The in- duction banquet, which will be held for the first time in Wyoming County, is being co- chaired by Tunkhannock’s Charlie Shaw and Wyalusing’s Karl Schnure. The Lake-Lehman/Dallas nominees are Chip Sorber, Ron Swingle, Jack Davis, Bill Shala- ta and John Oliver III. BACK MT. HURRICANES Hurricanes finish successful season The Back Mountain Hurricanes, AAU Girl's Basketball team, recently completed a successful season of competition. The Hurricane’s participated in numerous tournaments and most recently went undefeated in the Scoop Taylor Tourna- ment in Wildwood, NJ defeating Fencor, Lower Bucks Light, Parsippany Warriors and N.J. The Dallas Post Hall of Fame inductions at Misericordia DALLAS TWP. — College Misericordia will induct its first class into its Athletics Hall of Fame as part of homecoming activities Saturday. The class of six honorees will be introduced at halftime of the men’s soccer game with Wesley and the induction ceremony will follow in the Anderson Center. The class consists of Dr. Robert S. Anderson; Heather (Dougherty) Holdredge, Class of 1997; Jean (Drapiewski) Lacy, ‘62; Sr. Eloise McGinty; Mike Moeller, ‘84; and Char- lotte Slocum, ‘80. Anderson was inducted as a contributor in recognition of his support to the school’s ath- letics during the past 13 years. Among the many projects at Misericordia that bear the An- derson name are: Anderson Fields for Soccer and Softball, the Anderson Sports-Health Center and the Anderson Out- door Athletic Complex. Holdredge was elected for her stellar swimming career. She was the school’s first NCAA qualifier as a junior and became Misericordia’s first NCAA All-American in the 100 breaststroke in 1997. She held 10 school records upon gradua- tion and continues to hold four records. She has served as Mis- ericordia’s assistant swim coach for six years. Lacy was a basketball stand- out who ranks second on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,171 points. She com- piled this total in 43 games while playing in an era prior to the three-pointer and still holds the school record of 27.5 points per game for her career. McGinty was elected as an administrator after serving as athletic director/moderator for 25 years. She pioneered women’s athletics while presid- ing over the evolution of Mis- ericordia varsity sports virtual- ly from inception of the mod- ern era. She received the Catherine McAuley Medal in 1987 for 50 years of service to Misericordia. Moeller was a men’s basket- -’ ball standout and became the first player in the program's his- tory to score 1,000 career points. Playing in the era be- fore the three-pointer, he ended his career as the all-time lead- ing scorer at Misericordia and is currently third with 1,558. Slocum has served as Miseri- cordia’s softball coach for 23 seasons, compiling a career record of 487-224. She has nev- er suffered a losing season. She enjoyed 13 seasons of 20 wins or more, including six with 30- plus victories, and she ranked sixth among active Division III coaches in victories entering the 2003 season. Her teams have won four Pennsylvania Athletic Conference champi- onships and two ECAC titles in addition to five consecutive PAC runners-up finishes. FIELD HOCKEY O'Reilly 3, Berwick 0 - SWOYERSVILLE — Annie Onzik had a goal and an assist as Bishop O’Reilly blanked Berwick. Ali Baur also scored for the Queenswomen, and Janelle Zabresky made four saves to get her third shutout of the season. Dallas game postponed The Delaware Valley at Dallas game was postponed and rescheduled for Oct. 15. The game was moved at the request of Delaware Valley to allow students to attend a funeral.
