Choral concert at Misericordia The College Misericordia Choral Society returns to the stage at the Walsh Auditorium on Tuesday, April 22, at 8 p.m. for its annual spring concert. Guest conductor will be Steven Thomas, director of choral activ- ities at Wilkes University. Cho- rus pianist is Betty Porzuczek of the CM fine arts faculty. The Choral Society includes singers from the student body, faculty and staff of the college, as well as the Wyoming Valley and Back Mountain communi- ties. The chorus will perform works by Vincent Persichetti, Al- ice Walker, Cecil Effinger, Halsey Stevens and Aaron Cop- land. Guest instrumentalists for the concert will be Tom Heinze, trumpeter Jamie Orfanella and pianist Tsukasa Waltich. Also appearing on stage will be the College Misericordia Chamber Singers, a choral group comprised entirely of CM students. Steven Thomas will also serve as guest conductor of this group. They will be singing selections by Mozart, and Felix Mendelssohn in addition to two spirituals and an English madri- gal. Kyle Barnett, a junior physical therapy major, will bé making his conducting debut on the madrigal. The concert is free and open to the public.
