Misericordia
adds first-class
s ....
“facilities
College Misericordia may be
only a small Division III school
in the larger scheme of things,
but for some of the school’s ath-
letes, the little college in the
Back Mountain is becoming
@ reer than life.
The school’s athletic officials
took a giant step forward April
23 with ground breaking cere-
monies on the 23-acre, $1.3
million Robert S. Anderson
Complex.
Men's and women’s lacrosse
and soccer, field hockey and
track and field teams will benefit
from the addition of the com-
plex.
@ It is a sign that Misericordia is
“committed to its athletic suc-
cess just as much as its acade-
mic prowess, and at a school
that is seeing constant develop-
ment, one might even easily be
able to confuse all the construc-
tion with that of one of the 14
state system of education
schools. :
6 Of the three NCAA Division III
schools in the Wyoming Valley,
only Misericordia has a track
and field team, and with the ad-
dition of the new facilities, the
school will also have the only
synthetic outdoor surface.
The six-lane synthetic track,
with an eight-lane straightaway,
and a complete natural grass
throwing area for the hammer,
javelin and shotput.is scheduled
for completion in September
2002.
