Girl Scout Troop #2673 holds
drive for Red Cross
Recently Girl Scout Troop #2673 Dallas, held a drive to collect

g)crsonal care items to be donated to The American Red Cross So-
ciety. The American Red Cross will distribute these items to people
in need. The troop is under the leadership of Cheryl Maclean,
Troop Leader, and Assistant Troop Leader Linda Hoover.

to wed 1n September
James Strauser of Harvey's Lake, and Margaret Strauser
of Desborough, England announce the engagement of their
son, Troy Strauser to Torey Vizzo, daughter of JeriLynn and
Donald Vizzo, of Greenwich, Connecticut.
Vizzo is the granddaughter of Frank Lopriore and the late
Comfort Bzan of Stamford, CT and the late Ersilia and Mike
Vizzo of Greenwich, CT.
The bride-to-be graduated from Greenwich High School in
Connecticut. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Health and
Human Development in December of 1996 from Pennsylva-
nia State University in State College, PA. She is currently a
Senior Pharmaceutical Consultant at The Cambridge Group,
Ltd in Westport, Connecticut.
Strauser is the grandson of Sarah Strauser and the late
William Strauser of Shavertown, and Vera Wooton of Des-
borough, England.
The groom-to-be is currently a Sales Representative with
Hilti, Inc in Manhattan, New York. He graduated from Lake-
Lehman High School. He then went on to earn a Bachelor's
Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management in December of
1996, also from Pennsylvania State University in State Col-
lege, PA.
The couple will be married at Sacred Heart Church in
weenwieh, Connecticut on:September 20. Sip
Civil War Roundtable to meet
The Wyoming Valley Civil War
Round Table will hold its second
annual dinner meeting at 6:30
p.m. on March 18 at Pickett’'s
Charge in Dallas. Following din-
ner Jim Getty, will give a first
person presentation as Abraham
Lincoln.
Mr. Getty resides in Gettys-
burg, Pennsylvania, where he
portrays the 16th President in a
one-man show. His program has
received the Pennsylvania Travel
Excellence Award, and he has
received national recognition for
his work. Having spent years in
research of Lincoln and his con-
temporaries, Getty has devel-
oped several presentations as
President Lincoln which he gives
at schools, colleges and National
and State Government festivi-
ties. :
The dinner menu includes a
choice of prime rib of beef or a
buffet with chicken and fish.
The cost is just $15 and is open
to the public. For reservations

Berley reaches season high
at gymnastics competition
Michelle Berley, 12, of Shaver-
town, recently captured a sec-
ond-place finish at the AT&T
Buckeye Classic held in Colum-
bus, Ohio.
Berley's feat came in the Floor
competition with a score of 9.25.
She also finished third on the
uneven bars with a score of 9.05.
She placed fifth on the vault with
a score of 9.325, and finished
with . an all-around score of
35.775, her season high. Berley
is a level 8 gymnast, and a mem-
ber of the competitive team at
Northeast Gymnastics. She is
coached by Lori Dexter. :
Berley is the daughter of Fred
and Bev Berley, Shavertown, and
is an honor student at Wyoming
Seminary Lower School.

Notice of Source Water Assessment
Protection Program Public Meeting
Attention customers of Pennsylvania American Water Company’s
,Ceasetown, Crystal Lake and Huntsville water supplies and the
general public concerned about protecting the quality of drinking
water supplies in these areas of the Back Mountain, Luzerne
County, Pennsylvania.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is holding
follow-up public meetings to further discuss the Source Water Assessment
Protection (SWAP) program. The SWAP program is being conducted
throughout the Commonwealth by DEP to evaluate and establish protection
priorities for potential sources of pollution that may affect drinking water

DEP is inviting the general public to attend this follow-up meeting. During the
meeting, the public will have the opportunity to discuss preliminary results of the
initial evaluation of the PA American’s Ceasetown, Crystal Lake and Huntsville
water supply watersheds, discuss the department’s draft report on land use
activities; water supply contaminant issues; and what action the public can take
to develop protection plans for these water supplies and the associated
watersheds. Please note that this meeting will be held to discuss only raw water
quality issues before any treatment and distribution. Currently, the above water
supplier is providing water meeting or exceeding requirements under the PA
