Hour. The work
to be performed is Another
Antigone. Itis a serio-comic piece
set on a college campus in Bos-
ton. The play centers on Judy
Miller, a college senior who has
written an updated Antigone set
during the nuclear arms race. It
also centers on Henry Harper, her
professor, who will not grade it
because he considers ita “heresy”
and "ajuvenile polemic”. Although
she won't graduate because of it,
she decides to have it performed,
thus setting the stage for both
characters to symbolicly follow
the same paths as Antigone and
Creon. Judy becomes more and
Appleton. For Henry, we find that
his class enrollment has been
declining because of some les-
sons that some consider anti-
semitic.
friend and Dean, Diana Eberhart,
may not stop his decline. As The
New Yorker said, it is “a play that
deals directly, though never sol-
emnly, with anti-Semitism. A syn-
opsis can only hint at the dra-
matic strength and richness of
this splendid play, which is as
humorous, by the way, as its pre-
decessors.”
