tennial Celebration in 1994.
The Membership Committee
has planned the activities for
the day with Betty June
Mathers, Linda Reedy and
Patricia Baird serving as
chairpersons. Rev. W. Charles
Naugle, is Pastor.
May 24, 8 p.m., Annual
watchfire ceremony at the Post
grounds. Disposal of American
flags by the Legion. Everybody is
urged to bring faded, worn and
torn flags to dispose the flags prop-
erly. Sons of the Legion and Boy
Scouts will assist the Legion in
St. Frances Cabrini Church
to hold flea market May 25
A Spring Flea Market and Bake
Sale at St. Frances Cabrini Church
on Mount Olivet Road in Carverton
Heights is being planned for Me-
morial Day, May 25.
The Memorial Day Mass at Mt.
Olivet Cemetery will begin at 10
a.m. The Flea Market will open at
11 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m.
Refreshments will be available.
Homemade baked goods will be
sold.
The St. Frances Cabrini Parish
Social Committee will sponsor the
affair. Leonard Krispin is the
newly elected chairman of the
committee; Debbie Jorda is sec-
retary. Michelle Mikolosko is
chairperson of the flea market.
Bev Hetro and John Jorda are in
charge of refreshments, includ-
ing homemade clam chowder and
hoagies.
Takeouts will be available. For
more information, call Michelle
Mikolosko at 696-2382.
Items for sale will include books,
tapes, compact discs, toys, tools,
small appliances, dishes, glass-
ware, wall and table decorations,
chairs and small tables and other
household items.
Donations of useful and useable
items—but not clothing or large
furniture—will be welcome at the
church after May 17.

schools and perform free photo identification and fingerprinting of

Art students hang work at
Senator Lemmond's ‘gallery’
“The Art of the Flag” will be the
theme of the second annual ex-.
hibit of drawings and paintings
by students of Sue Hand at the
office of Senator Charles D.
Lemmond, Jr., to be held May 15
through May 29.
The art work includes a wide
variety of settings in which the
American Flag is highlighted.
A cookie and punch opening
reception will be held at Senator
Lemmond’s office in the Dallas
Shoppping Center on Fri., May
15, from 4 to 6 p.m. The young
artists will be on hand to greet
members of the public, who are
invited to attend.
“The members of my staff and I
are excited about the opportunity
to showcase the works of these
budding artists, and we hope
many people from the community
will join us at the reception and
throughout the time of the exhibit
to offer their encouragement to
these fine young men and women,”
observed Senator Lemmond.
Developers seek final plan
approval for two gas stations
Leonard Morris, Gerald
Dembowski and Charles Iacona,
Developers of Penn General Land
Development in Lake Township,
is seeking Final Plan Approval.
The project is to construct two
gasoline pump islands, with cano-
pies and storage tanks, at an ex-
isting convenience store at Pikes
Creek Corners. The site is one
acre in size located in a Highway
Business District and utilizes on-
lot water and septic systems.
A Financial Security Guaran-
tee, acceptable to the Luzerne
County Engineer and Planning
Commission Solicitor, will be re-
quired.
Mozart Club to hold concert May 18
The Mozart Club of Wilkes-Barre will sposnor a concert to bring the
Senior Citizens Centers spon-
sored by the Luzerne/Wyoming
Counties, Bureau for the Aging
offer hot noon meals Monday
through Friday to people 60 years
of age or older. Donations from
participants are gratefully ac-
cepted and needed in order to
expand this program. The Back
Mountain Center is located at 22
Rice Street, Dallas. Call 675-

The following is the menu for
the week of May 18. All meals
include margarine, milk and cof-
fee.
MONDAY - Sausage/peppers,
oven brown potatoes, carrots,
whole wheat bread, fruited cookie.
TUESDAY - Baked fish w/cre-
ole sauce, parslied rice, vegetable
medley, cranberry juice, rye bread,
fruit cup.
WEDNESDAY - Barbecue rib,
shells w/broccoli, buttered corn,
grapefruit juice, sandwich roll,
chocolate pudding.
THURSDAY - Liver and on-
ions, whipped potatoes, spinach
w/lemon, whole wheat roll, pea-
nut butter Tandy Cake.
FRIDAY - Cottage cheese and
fruit platter, gelatin, carrot sticks,

National Hospital Week - May 10-16

Church of Christ Uniting in Kingston, at 8 p.m. The program is open
to the public and will be free of charge. Tenor Mark Donnelly will be the
soloist. The concert will be preceded with a dinner. The annual Spring
Banquet will begin at 5:30 p.m.
"Market on the Pond' booths available
The Auxiliary of the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas, announced
that booths are available for their annual “Market on the Pond” flea
market scheduled for June 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., raindate June 27.
Spaces are $15 each and a reservation form is available by calling the
Volunteer Department at 675-8600, extension 138.
