DALLAS - Dallas Senior High
School kicked off its homecoming
events this Monday, October 14,
with its annual “Spirit Week.” The
purpose of this event is to raise
school morale and establish a
sense of togetherness as a school
by assigning to each day of the
week a different theme - Twin
Day, Hat Day, Dress Down Day,
and, tomorrow's theme, Blue and
White Day.
But the festivities don’t end
there. Thursday afternoon, the
entire student body will attend a
pep rally where the homecoming
court and their escorts will be
presented. Each year, the mem-
bers of the court are asked to
design a banner reflecting some-
thing aboUt their personality.
These signs will be on display
at the pep rally.~hen, on Satur-
day, October 19, at the Dallas
‘High School Stadium, Dallas’
Homecoming game against
‘Shamokin will kick offat 1 p.m. At
‘half-time, the queen will be an-
nounced and, following the game,
‘a semi-formal dance will be held
‘ in the school gymnasium.
The homecoming court, cho-
. sen by the senior class, consists
' of seven members. From these
seven, the queen will be selected
. by the entire student body. The
. following is a brief biography on
* each member of 1996 Homecom-
ing Court.
Marina Knappman is the cap-
tain of the cheerleading squad
and is Senior Class President. She
isa member of the National Honor
Society and Youth Salute. Marina
recently attended the National
Youth Leaders Forum on Medi-
cine and Rotary Leaders Camp. In
her [ree time, she enjoys baby-
sitting and teaching artlessons at
Sue Hand's. After graduation, she
would like to attend Penn and
plans to major in biology, her
favorite class, and eventually en-
ter the medical field. Her recom-
mendation for future classes is,
“Work hard now; it'll pay offin the
future.”
Emily Schwietzer is a mem-
ber of the National Honor Society,
Youth Salute, and Junior Leader-
ship Wilkes-Barre. She plays on
both the varsity volleyball and
varsity swimming diving teams
and is the Student Council Vice-
president. The 1996 Prom Queen,
she enjoys attending other school
sporting events so that she can
watch her friends play. She would
like to attend Duquesne Univer-
sity to major in physical therapy.
Emily's words of wisdom are, “Give
everything you do 100%.”
Francesca Stuppino enjoys
boxing and exercising in her free
time. Her favorite class is history.
After graduation, she would like
to attend the Fashion institute of
Technology in New York where
she will prepare for a career as a
Fashion Buyer/Merchandiser.
‘Country line dancing Tuesdays at L-L
The Lake-Lehman Band Sponsors will host country line dance
‘lessons Tuesday evenings through Nov. 5 at the high school caleteria.
Admission is $3 for an adult and $2 for children agel2 and under.
Country line dance teachers are Donna and Bob Andrews of Benton,
‘members of the National Teachers Association.

She would like to tell everyone
that, ‘No matter how hard life is,
always keep a smile.”
Kimberly Karavitch is on both
the cheerleading and soccer
teams. President of the National
Honor Society, she is also a mem-
ber of Senior Steering and Youth
Salute. She enjoys running, read-
ing, and baby-sitting in her spare
time. Kim's favorite classes are
physics and calculus. Her post-
graduation plans are to attend
college where she will major in
engineering. Her advice is, “Don't
go through life in a hurry; take
your time and enjoy it."
Mary Ann Selinski is a mem-
ber of the field hockey and softball
teams. This former cheerleader
enjoys taking gymnastics classes
and exercising. Her favorite class
is AP calculus, and she hopes to
attend Villanova where she will
major in engineering and play field

Board, received recognition for 25 years of service. He was presented
a plaque adding him to the PSBA “Honor Roll of School Board Servite.”
