'A Christmas Carol’ at Historical Society
The Wyoming Historical and
Geological Society announces the
fourth holiday appearance of Joe
Plummer in a concert reading of
Charles Dickens’ immortal clas-
sic, “A Christmas Carol,” Friday,
Dec. 18 at 8 p.m.
As in years past, Plummer's
performance will take place on the
second floor of the First United
Methodist Church, 47 North Fran-
klin St., Wilkes-Barre. The reading
was originally held in the Histori-
cal Society Museum, but was
moved to the church to accommo-
date an overflow audience.
Plummer plays all 37 parts in “A
FAS”
Christmas Carol"—from Scrooge
to Tiny Tim. His text is an edited
version of the script Dickens used
on his reading tour of England and
America during the 1850's.
Critics have hailed the one-man
tour de force, calling it “incandes-
cent,” and “the perfect accompani-
ment to any Christmas celebra-
tion.”
Plummer is an assistant profes-
sor of Mass Communications at
King's College. His season perform-
ances of Dickens’ work began
during the 1960's and have taken
him to Ohio, Massachusetts, New
York and the District of Columbia."
Plummer shared his interest with
students at King's College this
summer in a course entitled “What
the Dickens?”
