Lane, Dallas, died Nov. 30, 1992 at
home, following an illness.
Born in Rohrsburg, she was the
daughter of the late Ira and Myrtle
Redline Halfpenny.
She resided in Dallas the past
53 years.
She was a member of the Order
of the Eastern Star, Chapter 396,
Dallas and a past member of the
Daughters of America.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Grant R.
Surviving are daughters, Phylis
Harrison, Shickshinny; Ruth
Crawford, Lehman; sisters, Bernice
Jennings, Kaska; Margaret
Woolford, Berwick; Ruth Pasavage,
Exeter; four grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren.

FRANK COOPER
Frank B. Cooper, 85, of Lower
Demunds Road, Dallas, died Dec.
1, 1992 at River Street Manor,
Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was
the son of the late Thomas and
Rose Cooper. He was employed by
Richmond Bros., Wilkes-Barre, as
a clothing salesman. He was also
an assistant manager of Robert
Hall Clothes, Wilkes-Barre for 25
years. He was a member of Gate of
Heaven Church, Dallas. He had
resided in the Back Mountain since
1955.
He was preceded in death by
brothers, Thomas, Stephen and
Joseph; sister, Margaret.
Surviving are his wife, the former
Nell Nevitt; daughter, Janet
Gunster, Dallas; son, Frank (Bud)
Doylestown; sisters, Agnes
Ridgeway, Fort Myers, Fla.; Kate
Kupy, Wyoming; six grandchildren.
Private funeral services were
held at the convenience of the
family.
Memorial donations, if desired,
may be made to the Gate of Heaven
Church, Machell Avenue, Dallas, .

Ray Iwanowski, of Poplar St.,
Wilkes-Barre, died Dec. 3, 1992,
in Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Ashley, he was the son
of the late Stanley and Veronica
Iwanoski.
Surviving in addition to his wife,
the former Verna Deptula, are sons,
Raymond, Lehman Twp.; Thomas,
Kingston Twp.; two grandchildren;
sisters, Mary Kniedinger, Media;
Tess Derescavage, Ashley; Irene
Joels, Brooklyn, NY; Lucy Niemiec,
Mountaintop.
Interment, St. Mary's Cemtery,
Hanover Township.
MAURICE McCABE
Maurice F. McCabe, 57, of Oak
Drive, Jackson, NJ, formerly of
Wilkes-Barre, died Dec. 1, 1992.
Surviving are his wife, Marie
Herron McCabe; sons, MauricedJr.,
Michael, Patrick, John; daughter,
Donna; mother, Mary McCabe,
Wilkes-Barre; sisters, Nancy
McCabe, Catherine Wydra, both of
Wilkes-Barre; Mrs. Jack Moran,

Millersville, Md.; Sister Maureen
Francis, RSM, Harrisburg; Sister

Dr. Price honored by career
counseling association
Dr. Barbara N. Price, of Shaver-
town, director of career planning
and placement at Luzerne County
Community College, was recently
honored by the Middle Atlantic
Career Counseling Association
(MACCA) at their annual national
conference. Dr. Price received the
1992 Professional Contributions
Award for “Outstanding Contribu-
tions to the Field of Career Devel-
opment.”
MACCA is an association for
career development professionals
working in colleges, schools, busi-
ness and industry, and private
practice from the Eastern United
States and Puerto Rico. Dr. Price
served as the organization's presi-
dent in 1990 and also served as
vice-president and annual confer-
ence chairperson. She is currently
editor of Interact, MACCA's official
newsletter.
At the annual MACCA confer-
ence, Dr. Price presented a three
hour intensive workshop entitled,
“Empowering Women” which fo-
cused on how women can gain
visibility, respect and power.
Dr. Price holds a B.A. in Psy-
chology from Lycoming College, an
M.S. in Counseling from the Uni-
versity of Scranton, and a Ph.D in
Organizational Leadership from the
University of Pennsylvania.
She was the recipient of the
Pennsylvania Counselor of the Year
Award in 1981, and received the
Ross Narghang Award from
MACCA for Outstanding Contri-
butions to the organization, and
the Lifetime Membership Award
from the Victims Resource Center.
She was also included in Who's
Who in the East.
Dr. Price has served as presi-
dent of the Board of Directors of
the Luzerne County Counselors
Association, the Middle Atlantic
Placement Association, The World
DR. BARBARA N. PRICE
Future Society, the Luzerne County
Counselors Association, and the
Tri-County Personnel Association.
Dr. Price is also a member of Phi
Kappa Phi Honor Society, the Phi
Delta Kappa Education Honor
Society, and the Delta Gamma
International for female leaders in
education.
Dr. Price serves on the commu-
nity boards of Community Coun-
seling Services, Act 101 for College
Misericordia, Act 101 for Wilkes
University, New Choices Advisory
Board, Council of Ministries for
her church, the Advisory Board of
Viclims Resource Center, and the
Sex Equity Advisory Board of
LCCC. She also serves on the
Alumni Executive Board of Lycom-
ing College.
Dr. Price resides in Shavertown
with her husband, Dr. William E.
Price. They have three children,
Barbara, Charles and Christopher.
