A resident of Jackson Township for most of his life, he was a son of Thomas R. and Mary Malarkey Bunney Sr., of Chase. He was a graduate of Dallas Township High School. Before retiring in April 1992, he was employed as a storeroom clerk for Procter & Gamble, Mehoopany. He also operated Bunney's Store at Fernbrook Corners, Dallas. He was an Army veteran during the Korean War and a member of the Dallas Isaacs American Legion Post 672, Dallas.
