HEATHER HAND AND TIMOTHY MADEIRA
Heather Hand is engaged
to Timothy Madeira
Joe and Sue Hand of Dallas, announce the engagement of their
daughter Heather to Timothy Madeira, son of Pastor and Mrs.
Dennis Madeira, of Dallas.
Heather is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Larish,
Orange, and Mayor and Mrs. Paul LaBar of Dallas Borough and the
late Joseph M. Hand.
Timothy is the grandson of the late Francis and Virginia (“Grand-
mother”) Fuhrman, Dallas, and Robert and Catherine Madeira,
Kutztown. ;
Heather is a graduate of Dallas High School, class of 1987 and
a 1991 graduate of Wilkes University where she received a Bachelor
of Arts degree in communications. Heather is the assistant man-
ager at Sue Hand's Imagery, Dallas. She is the fifth generation in
her family to be associated with a family business on Main Street
in Dallas Borough.
Timothy is a graduate of New Life Christian Academy Home
School and is a Magna Cum Laude gradaute of King's College in
1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. He is the
news director at WRGN Christian Radio, Sweet Valley.
Pastor Dennis Madeira, New Life Community Church and Pastor
Dwight Hodne, Fellowship Evangelical Free Church will perform
the ceremony, September 14, at the Fellowship Evangelical Free
Church, Dallas.

Mr. Mathers in September
Mr. and Mrs. William A. McHenry of Trucksville announce the
engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Kristen
Lane, to David Thomas Mathers, son of Mr. and Mrs. David W.
Mathers, of Trucksville.
Miss McHenry is a graduate of Dallas High School and Luzerne
County Community College. She is employed by Bell of Pennsylva-
nia.
Mr. Mathers is a graduate of Dallas High School and attended
Luzerne County Community College. He is employed by the Ertley
Dealerships. :
The couple will exchange vows September 14, 1991 at the
Trucksville United Methodist Church.

Arthritis Board welcomes new members
Two Back Mountain residents were recently added to the Board of
Directors of the Luzerne Unit of the Arthritis Foundation. Dr. Alfred
D’Anca, Dallas and Stephen Werener of Shavertown along with
Mrs. Diane Tricarico of Wilkes-Barre were welcomed at the annual
meeting of the Board of Directors held recently at Patte's Sports
Bar, Wilkes-Barre. The new board officers were installed as well at
this meeting. Shown in the photo from left seated are Mr. Wer-
ener, Mrs. Tricarico and Dr. D’Anca. Standing are Deborah
Hannon, Board president; Debbie Wagner, vice president and Sue
Slusser, secretary. The Board of Directors sponsors many activi-
ties locally to benefit the programs of the Arthritis Foundation.

Mothers of Twins installs officers
Newly elected officers were recently installed in the Luzerne County
Mothers’ of Twins and Triplets Club. The event was held at The Barn,
Newberry Estates, Dallas. Officers installed for the 1991-92 season
were: Bonnie Arnone, president; Terri Godlewski, vice-president; Terri
Besecker, treasurer; Patty McNulty, corresponding secretary; and
Carolyn Boone, recording secretary. Carol Kastenbaum was chairman
of the event.
Lake Township recycling set for July 13
Lake Township Recycling will be accepting glass, bi metal cans,
aluminum, plastics #1 and #2 on Saturday, July 13, 10-noon at the
Lake Township Building on Route 29.
Hasay aide at Harveys Lake July 11
Representative George C. Hasay will have a field aide from his office
at the Harveys Lake Municipal Building on July 11 from 10 a.m. to 12
p.m. The purpose is to assist the constituents in the 117th Legislative
District. Voter registration cards will be available.
Strawberry festival at Loyalville Methodist
A Strawberry Festival will be held at the Loyalville United Methodist
Church on Saturday, July 13, starting at 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Homemade ice cream, strawberries, shortcake, pork bar-b-ques,
beef bar-b-ques, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, coffee, iced tea,
Kool Aid, will be served.
The event is sponsored by The Chestnut Grove Club of the church.
The church is located on the Loyalville Road, west off Rte. 118 and East

New women's chorus forming in area
Women of all ages interested in singing four-part harmony, are
invited to attend rehearsals of a new chorus now forming in the Back
Mountain Area.
