DALLAS TOWNSHIP
NEW CAR BROKEN INTO
Dallas Township Patrolman
Wayman Miers reported June 24
that someone broke the rear win-
dow on the passenger side of a
1989 Saab owned by Daniel Meeker
of Kunkle, by forcing the window
at the top with a screwdriver.
Investigation is continuing.
ALARM BOX TAKEN
Mrs. Ronald Ertley of Dallas
reported June 21 that sometime
during the night someone removed
the security alarm box from her
driveway. Mrs. Ertley told investi-
gating Patrolman Elliot Ide that
the boxwas thereat 11:30 p.m. the
night before. The investigation is
continuing.
DALLAS BOROUGH
TWO-CAR ACCIDENT
Dallas Borough Patrolman Wil-
liam Norris Jr. was called to the
scene of an accident June 25 on
Route 309 in the vicinity of Kern
Brothers.
Norris reported that John McIn-
tyre of Tunkhannock driving a 1989
Mercury was pulling out of the
Dallas Shopping Center in front of
Kern's when a vehicle driven by
Mike Meade, RD 3, Dallas, struck
McIntyre's car, which had to be
towed from the scene.

CATHERINE DALEY
Catherine V. Daley of Mountain
Side Manor, Dallas, died June 25,
1989 in the Wilkes-Barre General
Hospital.
Born in Washington, Maryland,
March 6, 1919, she was a daugh-
ter of the late Charles and Virginia
Herrigan Daley.
She was a resident of Dallas for
the past three years.
Surviving are a sister, Alma
Mahoney, Hagerstown, Md.; broth-
ers, Charles Daley Jr. and Leon
Franklin, both of Hagerstown, Md.
Interment will be at the conven-
ience of the family.
FERRIS FAIRCHILD
Ferris C. Fairchild, of Zbick
Road, Shavertown, died June 24,
1989 in the Nesbitt Memorial
Hospital, Kingston.
Born in Newport Township, he
was a son of the late Anning and
Anna Ruckel Fairchild.
He was formerly employed by
the Glen Alden Coal Company,
retiring in 1968.
Mr. Fairchild was a member of
the Junior Mechanics.
Surviving are his wife, the for-
mer Arline Powlus; son, Charles,
Southampton; three grandchil-
dren; sister, Mrs. Ruth Connor,
Trenton, Mich.
Interment will be at the conven-
ience of the family.
H. LANE GLIDDEN
H. Lane Glidden, of Frangorma
Drive, Westmoreland Hills,
Trucksville, died June 23, 1989 in
the Wilkes-Barre General Hospi-
tal, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was
the son of the late Harry B. and
Pauline Lane Glidden.

Mr. Glidden was a graduate of
the former Forty Fort High School.
He later attended Penn State Uni-
versity and the Wharton Exten-
sion of the University fo Pennsyl-
vania and was also a graduate
from the Graduate School of Bank-
ing of Rutgers University.
He had resided in Wyoming and
Forty Fort for over 45 years before
moving to Trucksville, where he
lived for 17 years.
Prior to World War II he joined
the Army and was commissioned
as a lieutenant. He served in Eng-
land, France and Germany during
the war as Executive Officer and
Battery Commander with C Bat-
tery of the 183rd Field Artillery of
the Idaho National Guard, retiring
after World War II with the rank of
Captain.
He had been employed for 42
years in banking in Wyoming Val-
ley, first by the former Forty Fort
State Bank, where he was execu-

which he retired in 1977 as vice
president.
Mr. Glidden was a past presi-
dent of the Anthracite Conference
of the National Association of Bank
Auditors and Controllers.
He was a member of the Forty
Fort United Methodist Church for
over 50 years, and had formerly
served on its Administrative Board
and Board of Trustees. He was also
a member of the Wyoming Lodge
#468 F.&A.M>, where he had pre-
viously served on the Building
Committee; of Caldwell Consistory,
Bloomsburg; the Irem Temple
Wilkes-Barre; the Forty Fort-King-
ston Kiwanis Club; the Wyoming
Rotary Club.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, the former Dorothy Nogle; a
sister, Dorothy G. Nichols.
He is survived by a son, Randall,
of Trucksville.
Interment will be in Fern Knoll
Burial Park, Dallas.
Memorial contributions may be

Forty Fort U.M. Church, Wyoming
and Yeager Avenues, Forty Fort,

RALPH FRANTZ
Ralph W. Frantz, 87, of Wesley
Village, Jenkins Township, died
June 21, 1989 in the Wilkes-Barre
General Hospital.
Born in Dallas, he was a son of
the late George and Emma Wilcox
Frantz.
He had lived most of his life in
the Back Mountain area, residing
for the past six years in Wesley
Village.
A retired milkman, Mr. Frantz
had worked for the former Harter’s
Dairy.
He was a member of the Shaver-
town United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, the former Mabel Updyke;
brothers, Leslie and Elias; sister,
Florence.
Surviving are a son, Howard R.,
Bethlehem; daughter, Evelyn,
Calif.; sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Bill-
ings; two grandchildren; two great-
grandchildren.
Interment was in Maple Grove

IRENE PASSARELLA
Irene Gnall Passarella, 64, of
Lakeside Drive, Harveys Lake, died
June 24, 1989 in the Nesbitt
Memorial Hospital, Kingston.
Born in Throop, she was a
daughter of the late Joseph and
Veronica Matala Gnall.
She was a former resident of
Throop and had resided in the
Back Mountain area for the past
24 years. She was a member of
Our Lady of Victory Church, Har-
veys Lake and its Altar and Rosary
Society.
Mrs. Passarella was preceded in
death by a sister, Matilda Kissel
and a brother, Joseph Gnall Jr.
Surviving are her husband,
Michael; daughters, Mrs Bernard
(Karen) Boback, Harveys Lake; Mrs.
Ronald (Donna) Kaskus, Tunkhan-
nock; two grandchildren; sister,
Mrs. John (Janet) James, Con-
necticut and brother, Paul, Con-
necticut.
Interment will be in Chapel Lawn
Cemetery, Dallas.

Leon G. Kern, 52, Fernbrook
Corners, Dallas, died June 23,
1989 at his home.
Born in Harveys Lake, he was a
son of the late Edwin and Marion
Whipple Kern. He was a graduate
of Lehman High School.
He resided in Lansdale for a few
years and had lived in Dallas since
1965.
Mr. Kern was the proprietor of
the Fernbrook Inn, Dallas. He was
a member of the Gate of Heaven
Church, Dallas.
He was preceded in death by a
sister, Mary; brothers, William,
Edwin II, Carl.
Surviving are his wife, the for-
mer Bernadine Lysiak; daughter,
Mrs. E. J. (Karen) Brown, Shicksh-
inny; son, Leon J. Jr., at home;
sisters, Mrs. James (Carol) Arnold,
Pleasantville, N.J.; Mrs. A.J. (Kate)
Richardson, Fort Mill, S.C.; broth-
ers, Albert, James, Richard, Ray-
mond and John Kern all of Dallas.
Interment was in St. Nicholas

THOMAS MOORE
Thomas S. Moore, 84, Lower
Demunds Road, Dallas, died June
22, 1989 in the Meadows Nursing
Center Dallas.
He was a life-long resident of
Dallas, the son of the late Frank
and Ella Shepherd Moore.
He was a graduate of the Dallas
Township schools. Before retiring
he was employed as a grocer at
Daring’s Market, Dallas.
He was a member of East Dallas
United Methodist Church and the
George M. Dallas Lodge, #531
F.&A.M. He had also served on the
Dallas Township Board of Educa-
tion for 16 years.
Surviving are his wife, the for-
mer Jessie Hislop; son, Thomas S.
Jr., Lanoka Harbor, N.J. There are
two grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.
Interment was in Fern Knoll
Burial Park, Dallas.

CRASH SENDS
TWO TO HOSPITAL
On June 24, Patrolman Way-
man Miers of Dallas Township
investigated a two-car accident at
the intersection of Route 415 and
Mill Street, which resulted in both
drivers being taken by ambulance
to the Geisinger Medical Center for
treatment.
Police said Dennis Molaskoskie
Jr. of Berwick was traveling north
on Route 415 when cars in the line
of traffic stopped suddenly and he
was unable to stop in time. He
struck the rear of a 1988 Jaguar
driven by Marilyn Susan Chaskin
of West Wyoming.
THREE HURT IN
ACCIDENT ON 415
On June 19, Joseph Gubitoso
driving a 1986 Mercury was travel-
ing north on Route 415 when his
car stalled near the Back Moun-
tain Bowl. Police said that the
Gubitoso car was struck in the
rear by a car driven by Marilyn
O'Dell of Noxen. Skid marks from
the O'Dell car measured about 30
feet.
Horse
Dallas Borough police reported
that both drivers were removed to
the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital
for treatment and a passenger in
the ODell car was removed by
ambulance to the Geisinger Medi-
cal Center.
KINGSTON TOWNSHIP
PARKED CAR HIT
Dallas Township Patrolman
Elliot Ide reported that on June 22,
a 1982 Chevrolet owned by
Florence F. Taylor, was left parked
at 273A Memorial Highway, Shav-
ertown, on the northbound berm
of Route 309.
Police said Ronald Paul Weaver
Jr., West Wyoming, driving a 1979
Pontiac, was traveling north on
Route 309 and lost control of his
car striking the Chevrolet and
continuing north for about 100
feet before coming to a stop.
CHARGED WITH DUI
Anthony M. Powell, 1413 Mark
Drive, Wilkes-Barre was stopped
by Patrolman Frank Ziegler for
traffic violation on Dug Road,
Trucksville, and following alcohol
blood tests was charged with DUI
and numerous traffic violations on
June 13.
