Two hundred sixth parents and children . attended to enjoy creating their own sundaes and greet teachers who have worked at the Nursery School over the years. Fresh Air Fund seeks host families Back Mountian Seniors meet and hold elections The Back Mountain Senior Citi- zens, under Project HEAD, met recently with President Joe Pre- cone, chairing. Four new members were intro- duced by Vicki Leo, Membership chairlady. They are Irene Miller, Vicky Dorrance, Jo Besecker and Audrey Nelson. Members celebrating their birth- days in May were honored, and Al and Kaye Ray were congratulated on their 45th wedding anniver- sary. Delegates Joe Precone and Nick Pericci reported on the Project HEAD Advisory Board meeting held recently at the Crossgates in Wilkes-Barre. The following officers were elected for the coming year: Joe Precone, President; Bob Rogers, Vice-President; Betty Beline, Sec- retary; Kay Hudak, Treasurer. Committee chairpersons are Membership, Vicki and Joe Leo; Programs, Lillian Soveroski; Trips, Al and Kaye Ray; Sunshine, Gert Miscavage; Refreshments, Florence Precone and Lee Rogers, Publicity. Plans for the combined Mother's and Father's Day covered dish luncheon, to be held on June 15, are being finalized by Sophie Kapral and Mary Sitkowski. Guest speaker, Robert D. Green- halgh, MD, Mercy Medical Offices, Dallas, gave a slide presentation and talk on Arthritis followed by a question and answer period. Lillian Soveroski, Program chairlady, announced the follow- ing programs: June 1, Bill Evans, Audubon Society, slide presenta- tion , and July 6, Pharmacist, Pat Kienle, guest speaker, subject: Drug Interaction. Meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of the month at 1:30 in St. Therese's Audito- rium, Shavertown. The next meet- ing will be on May 18. New mem- bers are welcome. Troop 649 attends camp Recently Brownie Troop 649 went on a camping trip to Girls Scout Camp Joy Lo, in Hobbie, Pa. Girls attending were 1st row, Becky Yeisley, Laura Gammage, Holly Ramey. 2nd row, Robin Jones, Tamara Mussman, Robyn Weber, Janelle Klein, Kristan Race. 3rd row, Faith O'Dell, April Durhammer, Marla Brown, Jennifer Gramps. Also camping were troop leaders Linda O'Dell and Eleanor Klein and one volunteer mother Martha Weber. . The Fresh Air Fund, a non-profit organization, is presently looking for families interested in welcom- ing a child from New York City into their homes for two weeks this summer. The organization was formed to give children from the inner cities an opportunity to experience life outside the concrete and asphalt that surrounds them most of the time. The children will arrive July 7, and stay until July 21 with fami- lies throughout the Wyoming Val- ley and Back Mountain area. Medical and liability costs in addition to transportation is cov- ered by the Fresh Air Fund. Back Mountain briefs Trucksville Nursery offers summer camp The Trucksville Nursery School is registering children ages 3-7 for their 6th annual Summer Camp. The camp dates are June 19-23, June 26-30, and July 10-14 and the themes are Endangered Species, Prehistoric Camp, and International Camp respectively. The Camp will be held at the Trucksville United Methodist Education Building from 9-12 daily. ~The children will have the opportunity to learn about dinosaurs and cavemen that walked the earth long ago, endangered species and their role in our environment today, and about children all around the world through various activities including crafts, games and other related hands-on experiences. Burger King helps children’s telethon Burger King restaurants in northeastern, central and western Pennsylvania will offer customers a special bargain during May, and at the same time raise funds for Geisinger’s Children's Hospital Center. For $1 customers can buy a coupon booklet entitling them to four regular sodas from any participating Burger King-a $3.50 value, together with a $4.00 discount coupon for Dorney Park in Allentown. All money raised from the sale of these booklets will be donated to Geisinger’'s Children’s Miracle Network Telethon. On Sunday, May 21, the American Cancer Society will be holding its annual 25 mile bike ride through scenic Dallas and persons of all ages are invited to participate.
