Robert L. Fleming, son of Dr. J.C. Fleming, Dallas was awarded a permanent citation for his Silver Star Medal from Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal. He earned the award for rescuing two wounded airmen who were adrift on life rafts. One hundred members and friends attended the Dallas Women’s Club Christmas party. The holiday program featured the following women dressed in costume who Mrs. Tony Dolbear, Russian; Mrs. Viola Morret, Polish; Mrs. Primo Berretini, Italian and Mrs. Peter Jurchak, Czechoslovakian. Mrs. Robert Scott was American. The ladies gave a short talk on each Christmas tradition. Mountain with up to eight inches of snow which reduced traffic to a minimum. The situation at Linear remained deadlocked although many negotiation meetings had been held.
