Lake-Lehman wrestling coach Ed Ladamus was pleased with the showing his grapplers made last weekend in the Crestwood Tournament. “We didn’t go into the tourna- ment expecting to place first,” said Ladamus. ‘‘Easton and Ladamus said that, overall, his boys did a good job. Scott Shafer took the heavyweight title, Don Spencer placed third at 167 lbs., Matt Reiner 126, and Dave Guzenski 119, came in fourth. The coach thought there were some weight classes where his boys could have done better but by the same token, they won some bouts he didn’t expect them to win. Ninety-eight pound wrestler Mark Allen, wrestling varsity Dallas Post/Charlot M. Denmon for the first time, won one bout. He is only a freshman and Ladamus believes he will get better as he goes along. 145-1b. Chris Frederick and 155-1b. Tim Bernick each won their first (See LEHMAN, page 18) By JOHN HOINSKI Staff Writer Not that Dallas High wrestling coach Larry Schuler isn’t con- cerned with the numbers posted on the scoreboard, but there are other factors he gives a little more consideration in determin- ing his team’s performance. “It’s important in this sport to watch technique and to make the least amount of mistakes you can,” Schuler said. “I don’t look at the final score as the final indication of how a team wrestled. You have to look at each individual performance.” Last Saturday, the Mountai- neers did not make many mis- takes against Valley View in their first meet of the year. And it showed on the scoreboard too, as Dallas went on to a 46-16 exhibition Toui over the Cou- gars. “We did well potentially, but it was only the first meet of the season and you can’t really make a judgment on your team at this stage,”” Schuler said. “But we are going to get tougher as the season goes on. We have a tri-meet Wednesday (tonight) with Wyalusing and Montrose and we have another tournament over the Christmas holidays. By the time the league starts in January, we will have some good experience under our belts.” Before the season began, Schuler felt the team’s real strength would be through the middle weights. The grapplers in those weight classes per- formed as expected 'on Satur- day, but Schuler also had other reasons to smile. * AEROBICS AVAILABLE DALLAS CENTRE a Fe HH Fe XH Fe Ke FH FRA R HK FEHR ISTE | Bonin sion NCTA { fy © Saddles © Bridles © HES * Halters © ® Horse Health Products © * Western Gifts © ® Horse Treats © A YIM 3 3 ETRE HOLIDAY SPECIALS I hi uo u I lo 5 iy [Lull jhe “C" or “D" SIZE ALKALINE BATTERIES 87 2.PACK E93BP-2, E95BP-2 9-C I re Es 2° REBATE with proof of purchase on 4 packs wi » ® Dog Beds © ® Raw Hide Bones © ® Pet Toys & Brushes ® ® Cat & Dog Carriers © ° Cat & Dog Christmas Stockings © ® Bird & Small Pet Supplies & Treats Complete line of brand name livestock and pet feeds & supplies.
