| | | ! ye jm 18 MRS. LISA MOLNER has returned back to her Dallas home after spending a 5-week vacation in Germany, her home land. It was the 1250th Anniver- sary of Bad-Hersfeld, Germany, which is located near Frankfurt. The town was built by St. Boniface and it hs the oldest church bell in Germany. The bell rings only one hour each year and that is during the St. Boniface celebration that lasts onw week each year. Mrs. Molner was very impressed with the 1250th Anni- versary celebration and heard the bell ring for its one hour. To witness this special week again adn to spend 5 weeks with family and friends, added to a safe trip both ways made for a wonderful trip. Welcome home Mrs. Molner, we missed seeing you while you were gone. : 0 TOM AND MARTHA REESE of Franklin Street, Dallas, have returned home after spending dale by the Sea. Along with the relaxation they enjoyed after their hectic pre-election sched- ule they also, enjoyed touring and lots of sunshine. A one day trip can * be lots of fun. -0- | A FEW PEOPLE have ) stopped by my counter at work } | Jean and asked me ‘‘Where is Bertha’s picture in Bertha’s Bargain?” I had to tell them I don’t know but I’m asking our editor, Dotty Martin, Where is Bertha? You didn’t put her on the move, did you? If you did, will you please tell her faithful followers why or where she’s moved? That’s one I didn’t get a call on. Did she move away and didn’t tell me? is SPEAKING OF MOVING along, Dave and Peggy Fouchs, Back Mountain residents for many years are moving to' the Downingtown Area in January. The Fouchs family: has been transferred adn their lovely home has been sold. We will surely miss Peggy, so will her bowling partners, Peggy is an avid and very good bowler. Good luck to you in your move. -0- CHRISTMAS PARTIES are in full bloom in our area. Offset Paperback held theirs on Satur- day evening at Genetti’s Best Western. Almost 500 employees and their guests enjoyed the meal and a country and western band entertained them for lis- tening and dancing. Rumors are General Hospital had the room next door and a real rock band enticed nearly all Offset’s party at one time or another before the evening was over. Sharing is part of the Christmas season, so why not? RUSS MAJORS SPORTS CENTER in Trucksville held their annual Christmas dinner on Sunday at the Bear Creek Inn. Employees and guests alike enjoyed a great dinner and entertainment came from within the group. The emcee wishes to remain anonymous by all. -0- AN UPDATE on Kenny Thompson: He had his second surgery last Monday and he came through that very well. He will remain in intensive care for a time then on to a regular room for a few weeks. Reports from the doctors are that the future is very optimistic for a full recovery. A long recovery period will be in store for Ken but even thoughts of going back to Col- lege next September are in the air. Please keep praying for Ken and his family, they really appreciate it. : -0- ; JOHN GREGG JR., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Gregg of College Manor, Dallas, shot an 8-point buck on Saturday while hunting with his dad in the Red Rock Area. Larisa Bergavin of Joseph Street, Dallas celebrated her day on Sunday, Dec. 7 with a family dinner. Larisa is a student at College Misericordia. (Jean Hillard, a Back Moun- tain resident, is a columnist for The Dallas Post. Her column | By NANCY KOZEMCHAK { Library Correspondent . The Back Mountain Memorial ! Library is featuring in its spe- i cial upright display case a col- . lection of G.I. Joe figures bor- | rowed from David and Scott | Townsend of Dallas. | David is nine years old, in . fourth grade and Scott is seven 1at Dallas Elementary School. They have been collecting these Army men of the future for three months and have loaned ‘us 42 from their collection. i On the top shelf is Serpentor, , the Cobra emperor. The Cobras are the bad guys and the G.I. ' Joes are the good ones. I under- stand you can tell the difference by their faces and the mark- ings. Hawk, who wears camou- flage pants, is the leader of the ' G.I. Joe forces. Other good guys include ' Bazooka, Sergeant Slaughter, ‘Dial tone who is a radio opera- "tor; Mutt, a dog trainer with a | dog named Junkyard. Some of ‘the bad guys include Tomax and Xamot, the twin brothers; Zandor and Zoranna, twin brother and sister who change color, and Wild-Weasel. David and Scott continue to receive the G.I. Joe figures for birthdays and Christmas and buy some on their own. Accord- ing to the November issue of “Toy & Hobby World”, G.I. Joe is the best-selling toy in Amer- ica. The editor of the magazine concludes, ‘“The 1986 G.I. Joe line is-as relevant to today’s kids as the 1964 version was to kids back then”. This display will be at the library for the next three months. I finally got to meet ‘Teddy Ruxpin’ last night at the bowl- ing alley. He is just the most impressive talking bear I have seen and is another of the top selling toys in America. He sings the nicest songs and opens and closes his eyes and moves his mouth as he sings. The little boy who belongs to Teddy was happy to share him with us. He is some Teddy Bear! A book borrowed on Interli- brary Loan was returned to the library the other day. It was appears regularly.) only three years overdue. The book was a paperback copy of Nevil Shute’s, “On The Beach’ and was part of a rotating collection called Fantastic Worlds which was originally due back on January 19, 1983. Need- less to say, we did not collect the full fine. The library is collecting Campbell labels as an on-going project which enables us to obtain certain library materials with very little cost. There is a container at the main entrance area for the dropping off of these labels. There is a used book store in the lower level of the library where books may be purchased during the year. It is open Monday 9:30 to 12 and 6:30 to 8:30; Thursday 2 to 5 and Satur- day from 9:30 to 12. The public library is a unique institition, encompassing the whole world of knowledge.
