sday, Oc tober 29, 1986 i § Dallas Post/Charlot M. Denmon Weather doesn’t dampen any spirits By CHARLOT M. DENMON Staff Correspondent Inclement weather made it necessary to hold the Annual Halloween Parade sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Dallas in the Dallas Intermediate School rather than out-of-doors as orig- inally planned on Sunday. The change in plans in no way dampened the enthusiasm of the Back Mountain children, who turned out in an array of cos- tumes for the event. Robots, Jumping Jacks, ballet dancers, Little Bo Peep, clowns, monsters, skeletons, angels, devils, Mickey Mouse, Philly Fanatic and the fairy god- mother were only a few of the variety of Halloweeners making their appearance. From the prettiest to the ugli- est, from the funniest to the scariest, each had a certain charisma that attracted onlook- ers and the judges. Kiwanis members quickly adjusted to the change in plans and divided the Halloweeners in various categories such as the prettiest, ugliest, funniest, scar- iest, most original and the best group. The contestants paraded from the gym through the halls of the school, past the reviewing stand of the judges and back to the gymnasium where they awaited the decision of the judges. Among the winners were the ugliest, Michael Kard, Brian Maculoch, Jason Cabot; pretti- est, Michelle Pribula, Rebecca Brown, Erin Warner; funniest, Perry Coolbaugh, Ellen Smaka, Tina Strom, Tripp Graham; most original, Jessica Richards and Whiskey, Jennifer Grieves, Nicholas Grieves, Chuckie, David and Maureen Hozempa; best group, Richard Tomasura, Steven Tomasura, Michael Tomasura, and Holly Randall; Heather Adams, Joann Sromov- ski, Wesley Adams, Rachel Sro- movski, Joey Lynn Walko and Amber Walko. All winners were awarded prizes by the chairman of the Halloween Parade, Richard Marker. Apples and other refreshments were distributed by the members of the Kiwanis Club, who assisted in the event. Steven Friedman and Robert Bossert were members of the Halloween Committee assisting Richard Marker. Judges were members of the Dallas Kiwanis and the Dallas Ladies of Kiwanis. Correction In the October 22 issue of The Dallas Post, it was incorrectly reported that the Lake-Lehman School Board had approved Michael Leskowsky as a volunteer to assist in coaching the varsity football team. During a work session held prior to the school board meeting, the item regarding Leskowsky’s status, was stricken from the agenda as board members agreed not to vote on it. Although Leskowsky does volun- teer as a football coach when his schedule permits, it was not offi- cially voted on by the school board that he act in such a capacity. i Dallas Post/Charlot M. Denmon The lord and lady penguins were the center of admiration during the Halloween Parade at the Dallas Intermediate School Sunday. Jennifer and Michael Grieves were the penguins, who were declared winners in the most original category. Dallas Post/Charlot M. Denmon Mollie the clown? Mollie Matosky in her bright colored clown outfit and polka dot cap and tie attracted a great deal of attention from the visitors who came to the Halloween Parade Sunday afternoon held at the Dallas Intermediate School because of the weather. ; DOTTY JOHN CHARLOT JOHN JACK |GOALPOST MARTIN HOINSKI | DENMON | OLIVER JONES PETIE (36-14) (34-16) (40-10) (34-16) (36-14) (36-14) Bishop O’Reilly/| O’Hara O'Reilly . | O'Reilly O’Hara O’Reilly O’Reilly Bishop O’Hara | 10-7 14-6 14-6 27-6 14-7 10-3 Bishop Hoban/ | Dallas Dallas Dallas Dallas Dallas Dallas Dallas 21-6 21-7 17-13 18-0 21-7 21-6 Crestwood/ Lehman Crestwood Crestwood | Lehman Lehman’ Crestwood Lake-Lehman 7-6 19-13 16-13 21-14 14-6 7-6 Penn State/ PSU PSU PSU PSU PSU PSU West Virginia | 28-6 31-10 31-14 35-0 32-7 31-10 Pittsburgh/ Pitt Pitt Pitt Pitt Pitt Pitt ~ Syracuse 28-13 27-24 17-10 © 27-3 28-14 35-14 Notre Dame/ ND ND ND ND ND ND Navy 21-13 20-10 21-10 + 35-13 28-14 21-7 Wyo.
