WALTER KONOPKE - During
the spring, even before the reg-
ular season starts, Walter can
be found on the baseball field.
Baseball is one of Walter's
favorite sports and he performs
well for the Black Knights base-
| ball team. Walter plays second
* base and batted .350 last year.
Along with baseball, Walter
enjoys playing guard on the
basketball team. Walter's activ-
ities outside of school include
skiing, hunting, spelunking and
water sports. Walter also enjoys
chemistry class with Mr. Giber-
son.
Walter is a member of the
National Honor Society and the
Ski Club. Walter plans on fur-
thering his education at Ithaca
College but is undecided about a
major. Walter resides in Noxen
and is the son of Walter and
Marlene Konopke.
HOMECOMING 1986 was a
smashing success! Festivities
began on Saturday, Oct. 25, with
the Dallas/Nanticoke football
game and the crowning of our
Homecoming Queen. Congrats
to the new queen Leigh Pawling
and her escort Steve Cominsky.
Let’s not forget a hearty round
of applause to first runner-up
Heather Nattress, who was
escorted by the handsomely
attired Enrico Nardone.
Later that evening, we
regrouped at the high school for
the unforgettable dance, with its
theme ‘Let the Good Times
Roll.” And roll they did. Class
mouth and funnyman, Chris
Kelly took a break from check-
ing out everyone else’s dates to
lead a merry crowd of football
players in a rousing chorus of
Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a
Bad name.” (Does David Lee
Roth face some competition
here?)
Zootz, providers of stuff to
dance to, picked upon the broad
hint and served up an excellent
version of that very tasteful
tune. For the hipsters among
us, Zootz supplied a balance of
equally great cover versions,
including a favorite by the Talk-
ing Heads. A blast was had by
all and, like, only seven months
until the prom, man...

DEADLINES, DEADLINES,
DEADLINES! Last Sunday
night, I was seen frantically
calling up anyone whose phone
number I possessed in an
attempt to allude yet another of
those famous deadlines. And
here are the results:
Phone interview number one
was conducted with MELANIE
(don’t call me Mel!) COSCIA.
She lives with her mom and
dad, Judi and Robert, and var-
ious siblings in Trucksville. At
school, she is involved in
chorus, yearbook and drama
club, in which she currently has
a part in her third production.
In’ the future, she hopes to
attend Kutztown University
where she will major in Interna-
tional Studies and hopefully,
study abroad. In the past, she
has won the Scholastic Achieve-
ment Award for Foreign Lan-
guages (German). She plans to
go after that award again this
year. So watch out, polyglots!
My next call was to CARO-
LINE SAVAKINUS. She is the
daughter of Carol and Ludwig
Savakinus of Shavertown. At
Dallas, she spend much of her
time singing with various choral
groups, i.e. chorus, choristers,
Chansonaires and Madrigals,
and is also a member of the
yearbook staff.
Her future plans include
attending college, majoring in
Elementary Education or Crim-
inal Justice. She hopes to work
with 5-to-10 year olds who have
committed serious crimes.

LAST WEDNESDAY, the
Lake-Lehman Senior Class held
its annual Activity Class Night
in the school’s gym. Open only
to the senior class, the night
was filled with fun and games
including pass the apple, peanut
push, egg toss, volleyball and
floor hockey. The music blast-
ing through the gym while the
students participated in these
activities.
In the lobby students were
able to watch last year’s Wash-
ington trip while Mr. Roberts,
Mr. Z, Mr. Gorgone, and Mr.
Maciak participated in a game
of hand ball ping-pong. As the
evening ended nobody wanted to
leave, but we had to go because
we all had school the next day.
