Construction was started on the church building in ance. late 1969 and, in June, 1970, the building was complete enough for the congregation to begin meeting there. Charles Brobst was the general contractor. Rev. Kirby Jones resigned in the spring of 1971 and Dr. Robert Williams assisted until October when Rev. E. Wayne Brooks became pastor. During the years 1972-80, the bylaws and constitution of the church were developed, additional believers were received into the church, the name of the church was incorporated to The Community Church of Dallas, Pennsylvania and youth ministries, music ministry and teaching minis- try were broadened. A Ladies Bible Study Group was started and Dallas Christian School began in Septem- ber, 1977. Rev. Brooks resigned in December, 1980, and Dr. Kenneth Elgena was interim pastor from January to June 1981, until Rev. Fred Clifford began his ministry. When he resigned to join Bible Basics International, Dr. Robert Delnay served as interim pastor until 1983. Ron Lindholm then filled the pulpit until the present pastor, Rev. Dale Brown, came in December, 1984. The congregation of the church now has a member- ship of approximately 75, with the majority of them present at Sunday’s celebration. AEE SE Boy escapes injury An 18-year old Shavertown boy escaped serious injury after his car struck and severed a pole early Sunday morning in ‘Jackson Town- ship. Guy Llewellyn lll, Box 25, Hillside Road, was trav- eling west on that road when his car went off the north- bound lane and struck the pole. Police reports say fatigue caused the mishap. Sulyk, of Box 479 Hillside Avenue, Harveys Lake, died October 16 in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Edwardsville, he was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre, and Our Lady of Victory Chapel, Har- veys Lake. Until his retirement, he had been employed as a foreman for 30 years by Schoolhouse Textile Mills, pre- viously known as Wyoming Textile Mills, Wilkes-Barre. Surviving are a nephew, Alyn Sulyk, East Falmouth, Mass; niece, Mrs. Eleanor Egli, Slippery Rock, Pa. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Margaret A. Heylek, who died in 1977. Francis Duffy Francis M. Duffy, of 220 Lake St., Meadows Apts., formerly of Wyo- ming, died October 18 in the Wilkes- Barre General Hospital where he had been a surgical patient for the past 18 days. Born in Minersville, he resided in Wyoming for 46 years, prior to moving to Dallas four years ago. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Police, Wyoming, retiring in 1960 with the rank of sergeant. He later served forfour years as county detective under District Attorney Stephen Teller. After leav- ing the county, he was employed for the Pennsylvania Coal Co. where he served as real estate and security officer. He was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas, and its Holy Name Society. Frank Albert Memo- rial Lodge 43, Fraternal Order of Police and its Home Assoc.; Penn- sylvania Retired State Police Assoc. and the Northeast State Police Retirement Assoc. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Cathy Mugford, Dallas; son, Robert, Newark, Del.; sister, Mrs. Anna McGovern, Pottsville; five grandchildren. His wife, Mary Eliz- abeth, preceded him in death on May 27. 1986. Rachael Schenck Rachael M. Schenck, 84, of Noxen, died October 17 in the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas, following a short illness. A life resident of Noxen, she and her husband observed their 63rd wedding anniversary last June. She was a member of the Noxen United Methodist Church, charter member of the United Methodist Women’s Group and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Noxen Fire Department. Surviving are her husband, Fred- erick, Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas; daughters, Mrs. Janet A. Hanstine, Port Orange, Fla.; Mrs. Naomi M. French, Brasher Falls, N.Y.; Mrs. Louis F. Cahill, West Pittston; Mrs. Alice A. Meyers, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; Mrs. Emilie M. Charles Coslett Charles V. Coslett, 86, of 220 Lake St., Dallas, formerly of Kingston and Rochester, N.Y., died October 17 in the Wilkes-Barre General Hos- October 15. Born in Edwardsville, he attended borough schools and had been a Navy veteran of World War I. He was later associated with Genessee Hospital, Rochester, N.Y. for more than 25 years. Following retirement, he had resided in Fort Pierce, Florida, returning to the Wyoming Valley, residing in Kings- ton. He had moved to Dallas in 1972 and had been a guest at the Mead- ows Nursing Center, Dallas, prior to his hospitalization. Mr. Coslett was a member of Shavertown United Methodist Church and the Valley Lodge No. 109, F&AM, Rochester, N.Y. for . more than 50 years. He was also a member of the Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg, and ‘Irem Temple, Wilkes-Barre. A noted artist, Mr. Coslett had been affiliated with the Wyoming Valley Art League and had dis- played his paintings in several area institutions. Surviving, are his wife, the former Edith Phebey; brothers, William G. and Jesse A., both of Wilkes-Barre; Delbert G., Muncy; sister, Mrs. Florence Berry, Kings: ton; several nieces and nephews.
