The Lake-Lehman ‘School Board
approved the participation of the
district in the Mansfield-Utah Tele-
teaching Project at last Tuesday’s
meeting. .
The project will provide $10,000 -
$12,000 worth of equipment for the
district, operating supplies, and spe-
cialized training for participating
teachers and administrators. Edu-
cation committee chairman Bing
Wolfe said costs to the district will
0 seven days for teachers during
the training phase and some
expense for travel to the training
sites.
The directors also approved the
acceptance of a donation of a televi-
sion satellite system from David
Martin of Country Satellite Commu-
nications, RD 3, Hunlock Creek.
They also approved expenditures
for Phase I of this project which
involves purchase of a modulator
$410, and labor costs $380 for instal-
lation. Value of the satellite system
is in excess of $2,000. Money for the
project will come from the Voca-
tional Education budget.
The 1986-87 transportation con-
tract including service by 34 buses
with four contractors at a cost of
$610,923 was approved unanimously
by the board. The total contract

Another area of concern which
Camp reported on was the revision
of Sunshine Act 84, requiring that
sonnel, be open to the public begin-
ning in January of this year, some-
thing Dallas already does.
Overall, on the educational front,
Camp says he feels Dallas has been
doing well in comparison with the
rest of the state, including in the
area of statistics regarding the
number of students who go on to
higher education.

adjustment. A total cost of $98,411
for 17 separate contractors serving
special routes not serviced by the
main bus route contractors was also
approved.
Wolfe also told the directors that
the Instructional Improvement
Grant for ‘Project Excellence’
Phase III was funded $12,262.13 by
the Pennsylvania Department of
Education.
Angela Casey and Mark Lopasky,
high school seniors and Robert
Hazletine, Jackson Township, were
named to the District’s Long Range
Planning Steering Committee.
Sandra King, Trucksville, Thomas
Kordowski, Sweet Valley, Brian
McManus, Wilkes-Barre, Harry
Eck, RD 1, Sweet Valley, and Shir-
ley Barnes, Hunlock Creek, were
approved as bus drivers.

Michael Leskowsky, graduate of
Lake-Lehman High School and a
former member of the school’s var-
sity football team, was approved as
a volunteer to assist in coaching the
varsity team.
The board of directors also
approved an AIDS Policy to apply
to all students and employees in all
programs conducted by the school
district. This will include a manda-
tory course of study in Health Edu-
cation relative to AIDS (Acquired
Immune Deficiency Syndrome).
The Ski Club Trip to Steamboat
Springs, Colo., Dec. 26-31, was
approved by the school board with
the cost to be $336.00 for the chaper-
one.
The next regular meeting of the
school board will be ‘Tuesday,
November 11, 1986, 8 p.m., in the
Lake-Lehman Senior High School
auditorium.

The Kiwanis Club of Dallas will
conduct its annual Halloween
Parade on Sunday, Oct. 26.
Parade participants should
assemble between noon and 12:30
p.m. at the Dallas Township Ele-
mentary School, Church Street, and
Route 309. Judging will take place
between 12:30 and 1 p.m. and the
parade will start at 1 p.m.
The parade route will be as such:
from the Dallas Township Elemen-
tary School, down Church Street, on
to East Center Hill Road, left on to
Lake Street, across the Rea &
Derick parking lot, across Church
