ing together in 1966. In November of
that year they rented the former
Shavertown Elementary School for
Sunday worship. Later they moved
to the Eastern Star Building in
Dallas for Sunday services.
In 1968, the group purchased land
on the Memorial Highway (across
from the Chapel Lawn Cemetery)
and erected the church building
which was completed in 1970. The
first worship service held in the
building was on Father’s Day, June
21, 1970. An addition to the church
was completed and put into use for
Sunday School, AWANA and fellow-
ships in 1973.
The church has been served by
four pastors during its 20 years of
existence. Presently, Dale S. Brown
is pastor of the church.
The Community Church of Dallas
invites all the friends of the church
throughout the years to attend this
special occasion.

SOMETHIN
The leaves have turned to
gorgeous colors of rust and
old and red. It is ‘Mother
ature’s’’ last hurrah before
the onset of winter. It is one
of the events of Fall we
expect. We have no control
over it. It just happens.
There is another event of
Fall we expect, over which
we do have control. It just
doesn’t happen. :
That event is the election.
No matter what your
political persuasion, it is
your obligation as an
American to exercise the
privilege of making your
choices by registering and
voting.
We enjoy one of the only
political systems in the
world where the election of
government officials takes
place freely quickly, calmly
and peacefully - No
bloodshed - no riots - no
violence.
Each Fall, millions of
Americans exercise control
over the nature of our
political philosophy by
pulling some levers in a
private booth.
The simplicity of the
American election process is
one of the reasons for its
success. We have all heard,
‘My one vote doesn’t
matter, so why bother?”’
You should bother! You
must bother! Your vote has
been secured and
aranteed by our
onstitution at great
sacrifice by many citizens
throughout our history.
Your vote is the only one
ou will ever have. Value it!
se it! Have the courage to
stand up and be counted. If
you don’t, you give up your
right to criticize the
government.
We get the government we
deserve. I think we deserve
the best.
It’s “Something to Think
About.”
