) J Eight area students have been named school correspondents for The Dallas Post for the 1986-87 school year announced Dotty Martin, Executive Editor of The Dallas Post. The correspondents will be responsbile for weekly col- umns for the three Back Mountain schools — Dallas, Lake-Lehman and Gate of Heaven. Serving as correspondents from Lake-Lehman High School are Scott Kerkowski and Susan DeGennaro. Scott is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Kerkowski and residents at 15 Vine Street, Oak Hill, Dallas. He is the secretary of the Lake- Lehman senior class, a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the prom'committee and has been nominated for Youth Lead- ership Salute sponsored by Rygiel Studio. Scott is also an athlete at Lake- Lehman as he is the defensive tackle and offensive guard on the football team as well as serving as captain of that team. He also throws the shotput on the track and field team and participates in the school’s weightlifting program. Following his high school gradua- tion, Scott plans to attend college and major in either the science field or sports medicine. Susan DeGennaro is the daughter of Dr. Patrick and Lois DeGennaro of 1585 Sutton Road, Shavertown. At Lake-Lehman, she is a member of Student Government, a member of the Ski Club, a member of the yearbook and prom commit- tees, a member of SADD Students Against Drunk Driving and has participated in several school plays. Selected to attend the Hugh 0s y Martin O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar in her sophomore year, Susan is also a member of Who’s Who Among High School Students. Susan also plays on the forward line for the Lady Knights field hockey team. Susan plans to attend college after graduation, but is currently unde- cided about a major. Named as Dallas High School correspondents are Crysie Bell, Barb Davies, Beth Adams and Cathy Zikor. The four girls will be working in teams of two, alternating weeks throughout the school year. Crysie. Bell is the daughter of Jean Bell of 72 Valley View Park, Dallas. She is a member of the school newspaper, forensics, and Choris- ters. After graduation, Crysie plans to study International Communica- tion. Barb Davies is the daughter of Anne Davies, Box 163, Dallas. She is a member of the yearbook committee, manager of the wres- tling team, a member of the track team, and a member of the con- struction crew, set design and pub- licity crew for the school plays. Following her days at Dallas, Barb plans to attend college where she will major in Architectural- Graphic Design. Beth Adams is the daughter of Barbara Adams of 32 Peartree Lane, Dallas. She is a member of Choristers, the school newspaper, and has par- ticipated in three school plays. Also a National Honor Society member, Beth has been named to District, Regional and State Chorus and is Beginning this Fall, a new and expanded version of the VA Medical Center’s free speaking bureau is now available for engagements. Speakers will be available for lunch- eon, afternoon, dinner and evening hours. Topics and speakers include: “Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center’s Medical Services and Related Bene- fits AVailable to Eligible VA Benefi- ciaries;” ‘Eligibility for VA Medi- cal Benefits and Services;” and “Medical Administration Service - What We Are and Do”’ by James W. Mahoney, chief, Medical Adminis- tration Service; ‘Food Labeling;”’ “Diet and Diabetes;”” ‘‘Cholesterol” and ‘‘Sodium’’ by Rose Anne Wincek.
