Sept. 3
Nesbitt Memorial Hospital is pon-
soring an Arthritis Clinic on
Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 11 a.m. to
2 p.m. in the Nesbitt Medical Arts
Building, 534 Wyoming Avenue,
Kingston.
‘Dr. John Carey, a specialist in
arthritis and reheumatology, con-
ducts the program which provides
arthritis patients with a complete
physical examination and treatment
plan. The results are forwarded to
the patient’s physican for consulta-
tion input and followup care.
Patients requiring orthopedic or
corrective surgery or extensive
physical therapy are tested with a
multidisciplinary approach known
as CORE (Combined Orthopedic
and Rheumatologic Evaluation).
Patients, referred by their physi-
cian, must make an appointment
with the Arthritis Clinic by calling
Nesbitt’s Outpatient Registration
office at 288-1411, extension 4130,
Monday through Friday, from 1 to 4
p.m.

completed a four-hour babysit-
ting seminar coordinated by
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital's
Volunteer Services Depart-
ment.

Sept. 5
Harry Trebilcox, a music depart-
ment faculty member at College
Misericordia, will give a solo piano
concert 8 p.m., in Walsh Auditorium
on the Dallas campus.
Trebilcox will present works by
Bach, Schumann, Chopin, Debussy
and Liszt. The concert is open to the
public, free of charge.
Trebilcox received bachelor of
music and master of music degrees
from the Eastman School, studying
with the late Cecile Staub Genhart.
As a Fulbright scholar, he earned
the highest honors in piano from the
Academy of Music in Vienna, Aus-
tria, where he studied with the late
Wladyslaw Kedra. He is a faculty
member at College Misericordia, a
music critic for the Sunday Inde-
pendent and director of music at the
Trucksville United Methodist
Church.

that Jeffrey K. Fox, Executive
Director of Omni Health Plan, will
be the guest speaker at noon at the

The Board of Trustees of the
Trucksville United Methodist
Church have established an endow-
ment fund. The fund will provide an
opportunity for members and
friends of the congregation to honor
those who have been, or are, closely
associated with the church, as well
as provide a financial enrichment to
the church program.
The Endowment Fund Book which:
includes the names of the current
donors to the Fund and those who
have been permanently remem-
bered will be formally dedicated
and placed in the Church Sanctuary
during the Worship Service, Sept. 7
at 9:30 a.m.

Dr. Gerald M. Reisinger N.D.,
D.C. will give a lecture to the
Society Towards Autistic Research,
S.T.A.R. He will cover nutrition and
exercise therapy for autistic chil-
dren.
Reisinger has taught nutrition and
outdoor education in the Iowa
Public School system. He has insti-
tuted many nutrition and outdoor
education programs here in our
community. Currently, he is teach-
ing preventive medicine at College
Misericordia. The lecture will cover
the important topics of childhood
nutrition, exercise postural pro-
grams and outdoor childhood learn-
ing experiences.
The monthly meeting will be held
first at 6:45, the lecture following at
7:30. Location is in the basement of
the Church of Christ Uniting, corner
of Sprague Ave. and W. Market St.,
Kingston. The public is invited to
attend either one or both. Persons in
contact with an autistic child or
possible autistic are urged to
attend.

The Lake-Lehman Board of
School Directors will meet at 8 p.m.
in the multi-purpose room of the
Ross Elementary School, Sweet

Wilkes-Barre General Hospital's
Education Department will sponsor
its ‘Outpatient Diabetic Education
Program,” a four-part educational
series at 6:30 p.m. in the hospital’s
Alumni Hall, third floor east wing.
The program, being held as a Blue
Cross reimbursement plan, will also
be held at that site on Sept. 11, 16
and 18 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
The program is open to the public
and is free-of-charge for those cov-
ered in full by Blue Cross (non-
Medicare) plans. All Blue Cross
plan subscribers must be a newly
diagnosed diabetic or must have
been hospitalized within the 12
months prior to March 18. Partici-
pants must be referred by a physi-
cian and are required to attend all
four sessions. (Cost for non-Blue
Cross subscribers is $165.)
Topics to be addressed include:
“Managing Your Diabetes,” ‘‘Meal
Planning,” ‘‘Shopping for Food,”
“Dining Out,” “Coping With Dia-
betes,” ‘Diabetical Medications’
of Complications.”

erans Outreach and Assistance
Center, Daria Gregory, will be at
the Kingston Township Municipal
Building on Thursday, Sept. 11,
from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. to assist
individuals who have questions or
problems relating to veterans bene-
fits. Proof of veteran status is
required.

Phlebotomy Association will be con-
ducting the Certification Examina-
tion on Saturday, Oct. 18.
The exam is open to all Phleboto-
mists wishing to become certified.

The fall training session for new
volunteers for the Threshold pro-
gram is scheduled for Sept. 13 and
14 at the Parish House of the Prince
of Peace Church on Main St. in
Dallas.
Threshold, a ten week course, is
taught at the State Correctional
Institution in Dallas as part of the
pre-release program. It offers the
Health care
imprisoned person a new way to
look at himself, at others, and at life
in general thus enabling him to cope
come up in every day life. The
program stresses the point that it is
possible to organize one’s life and
follow through on commitments.
The Threshold program was initi-
ated in 1965 by Dr. Milton Burglass
and is now in operation in at least 35
locations in the United States. It has
been taught at the Correctional
Institution in Dallas since 1978.
New volunteers are needed who
are willing to give 10 weeks of their
time in order to help an imprisoned
person preparing for parole become
a responsible member of society.
