OCEAN CITY, NEW JERSEY, The Commodore, the boardwalk, the shops, the sunshine, the ocean, donuts made fresh on the boardwalk and coffee brought to me in bed every morning for seven days. I can’t believe it but it was all mine last week. The smell of the coean, the breezes blowing in our faces and the white, white tips on the ocean as the waves came rushing in to shroe every night around 11 p.m. was a sight to see. The most beautiful picture in the world, in my eyes, is the ocean late at night and early in the morning. The next 51 weeks of —ss— work will be a pleasure because JEAN HILLARD 4] i week will be mine once No telephones, no questions, no bad news, no sad stories. When one leaves on vacation the ‘real life” should be left at home and for me that’s a realy vacation. But, now it’s over-and I’m glad to be in touch with reality again and the Back Mountain has been moving along just the same. 0: THE NEW SHOPPING CENTER on 309 looks like it will be in operation by November in time for the Christmas rush one of the tenants informs me. -0- THE LUZERNE COUNTY FALL FAIR is ready to open its gates on Sept. 3 with 3 new permanent buildings, 3 times as many exhibitors as last year, 3 times as many cows to show and horse shows going on all day, Saturday and Sunday for your enjoyment. Ray Hillman, general fair chairman, is ready to collapse, but so proud of the accomplishments made this year that he’ll wait until Sept. 8 to let nature catch Farmin’ talk up with him. The Job Corps from Red Rock have worked faithfully every day for weeks on end to complete those buildings and without them it would not have been possible. Plan to attend the fair every day. It is such a great privilege to have this type of entertainment right here in our Back Mountain. Don’t miss the one and only Box Car Willie shows! He will perform twice the same evening. See you there!!! 0- BETTY LOU and DENISE GREY and Lisa Evans, all of Sweet Valley, spent last week enjoying their vacation at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. I'm sure there are many more and to all of you, good luck it’s such a challenging world out there. -0- I KNOW THERE ARE HUNDREDS of Back Moun- tain families who vacation at Ocean City, New Jersey, each summer. We didn’t see any of you this year but when we go the first week of August it’s’ like going down town, Dallas. Every other store is a familiar face shopping the boardwalk. It was all of you we were thinking of when Hurricane Charlie passed thru Ocean City. When they announced from the Music Pier to “clear the boardwalk” all facilities and stores will be closed due to the hurricane, the challenge of ‘‘report- ing” began to build in me. I though of the Alvin Cragle family of Lehman who frequent the area weekends, the Morans, our teacher at Dallas ‘“‘Jane’”’ who feels like Ocean City is heaven on earth etc. So I sent my daughter running back to our room for a camera and we were off to capture this ocean on a rampage for you. “If” the pictures take (It was black hurricane skys,’”’) and it wasn’t my camera so I was guessing on distance, and ‘“If”’ our editor, Dotty Martin, feels it’s of interest to enough people, we may see this great ocean covering our beach area, steps etc. next week. There are a lot of ifs, but isn’t that life? Marriages DANIEL MONK, 154 No. Lehigh St., Shavetown, to HOLLY B. FRY, 796 So.Main St., Wilkes-Barre. JOHN LEVI HOYT, JR. Lot 34 Freemans Tr.
