Coach Rich Gorgone has 13 lettermen
returning to this year’s Black Knights
football squad, all of them starters on
last season’s team.
Quarterback Lenny Annetta, a sopho-
more, did a good job at that position for
Gorgone last season. Despite being a
freshman, Annetta led the team to a
successful season.
Scot: Kerkowski, a defensive lineman,
is considered by Gorgone to be one of the
prime linemen in the league and a great
leader. Jason Cadwalader, who played
safety last season will play wingback this
season and alternate with Annetta at
quarterback.
Don Spencer, outside lineman last
season, will play the same position this
season as well as offensive receiver. A
super wrestler, Spencer is in A-one physi-
cal condition and has excelled in the
Knights scrimmages.
Chris Landmesser, split end and defen-
sive halfback, has great hands and could
be one of the best defensive backs in the
league, according to Gorgone. Scott
Schultz, 230 1b. tackle, played for the first
time in 1985 and did a super job on the
line both offensively and defensively.
Bill Davis, defensive back and running
back, will play both ways again this
season, and Scott Shafer, 210 1b. junior,
who played tackle and middle linebacker
in 1985, will do the place kicking and
punting for the Knights. A championship
wrestler, Shafer is a dynamite player.
Chris Frederick, who filled in as wing
back in 1985, replaced Bill George when
he was injured last season. He will play
lineback this year. Steve Whittaker
played center in half of the games last
season and in others as middle line-
backer. This season, Gorgone plans to
play him at center.
Gorgone considers this a good nucleus
on which to build for this season and he is
depending on these lettermen to lead the
team.
