Lots of people turned out and the weather cooperated. Thursday it rained, Friday, it rained for the Children’s Auction Saturday morning it poured down rain, but in the afternoon the sun did come out for a short time. Saturday evening JEAN HILLARD brought great crowds in spite of it all and as the rains came again, up went the umbrellas, and people stayed ot bid on their favorite antique until around 11:30 when chairman Shaskas called it off for Saturday. Sunday started off with rain again, by the time the block opened it was a very wet beginning again. The rain didn’t hamper the goal set by Dr. John Shaskas, $70,000 plus looks like a reality! It was a job well done, a great chairman, another great auction. The 40th, the wettest, but the best yet! -0- MR. AND MRS. WILLIAM NASH of Harveys Lake had Fourth of July guests visiting from Boyertown this year. Robert and Diane McElwee spent the week enjoying Harveys Lake in all its beauty on this festive weekend of Fireworks etc. -0- PAT BROOKS of Lehman had a busy Fourth of July week also. Pat is a busy lady, she coaches the Back Mountain National All Stars girls softball team. The girls beat West Wyoming in their first game with a 6-3 score and Tracey Krupa was the winning pitcher that game. The girls are still winning and will meet the Back Mountain American team for the championship at Mountaintop on Tuesday (last night). 0- PAT’S BROTHER JOE’S WIFE, Shirley, son Casey and in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Neelon, traveled in from Katy, Texas, by motorhome and parked in Pat’s yard for a week. The Lopasky’s drove up via Florida and toured as they came. Going home they plan to visit and tour Nashville, Tenn. In her spare time, Pat works full time at Noxen Health Center in the Dental unit. A very ambitious person. WEDDINGS HAVE YOURS VIDEOTAPED # iv / "Professional Quality" @ -0- COLLETTE AND JIM JESIKIEWICZ of Wyoming spent 2Y5 weeks traveling cross country and touring as they went. California, Arizona and Hot Air Ballooning were some of the highlights of their trip. Collette is the receptionist at the Noxen Health Clinic and I know her colleagues all join me in saying, Welcome Back! -0- RICK AND DRENA GORGONE of Shavertown, and their two children, Sam and Meg, have returned home from a trip to Southern California. The Gorgones toured a lot of Southern California. They toured one day, then spent a day at the beach the entire time, so along with all their sightseeing, they also have great tans. A few baseball games were included and they were at the game where Don Sutton pitched his 300th win. They visited the San Diego Zoo, went to Mexico and really enjoyed bargaining on prices. In Mexico everyone bargains. The price is just a conversation piece, you take it from there, a real fun experience. They visited Universal Studios, drove through Hollywood Blvd. This was rather disappointing, it was run down and not what you would expect to see. Drena’s two brothers, who are policemen there advised them not to get out of their cars to see foot and handprints in the cement since it was evening and unsafe. The beaches were clean and beautiful and lots of them. Surprising to the Gorgones, the evenings were very cool, days hot but evenings by 7 p.m. you needed a jacket. Disneyland was also included in their trip. A great trip, a great experience, Welcome Back! THE WINNER IS EDITH SHUPP of Dallas. Edith was the name drawn at Stapinski’s in Dallas, her ticket will now enter the grand drawing on August 11 in Michigan and the name called there will win a seven-day Carnival Cruise. Good luck Edith Shupp, you may be on your way. -0- DAVE AND DEBBIE KATYL AND SONS, Joshua and Daniel of Dallas, spent a few days enjoying the shores of Atlantic City.
