Crump has served as chair-
man of the Book Booth for
years now and plays a very
important role in the suc-

Whether living in Dallas, PA, or
Dallas, TX, people everywhere tend
to share similar thoughts and
feelings.
They are bored with TV and its
reruns; they’ are tired of the usual
local happenings, and they need a
change of scenery. It’s human
nature to look for ways to be
entertained whether by other people
or by experiencing new places.
More often than
not, people get
that sudden urge
to just jump in
their car and go
for a drive,
destinations often {
unknown to them.
Because of
economic
reasons, many

going on one-day
trips, or perhaps taking that last
one-day trip before summer ends. A
so-called ‘‘sudden urge”? A planned
one-day trip? There are destinations
be worth considering.
Olde Lafayette Village is located
in Lafayette Township, in Lafayette
Township, Sussex County, New
Jersey. Just hop on Interstate 80
(East), take Route 15 Exit 34
(North), travel a few miles, and in
two hours you are there! Olde
Lafayette Village is a center that
features shopping in quaint
specialty shops. It is modeled after
an early New England village and is
beautifully landscaped. The
shopping village is best compared to
such tourist attractions as Peddlers
Village, the Historic Towne of
Smithville, and Olde Mystic Village.
For those who prefer a'colonial
atmosphere, there is Waterloo
Village located in Stanhope, New
Jersey. Waterloo Village offers
visitors the opportunity to explore
an 18th century village replete with
restored shops and colonial era
homes. Tours are available with
costumed guides, and
candledipping, weaving, and other
crafts are demonstrated. Tourists
can also wander on their own
through the historic gristmill,
apothecary and blacksmith shops,
the general store, or the Towpath
Tavern. Just take Interstate 80 to
206 North (Exit 25), and follow the
signs to the village!
These two villages are appealing
to adults, but what about the
youngsters? In the general areas of
Olde Lafayette and Waterloo ;
Villages are found Space Farms Zoo
& Museum and Fairy-Tale Forest.
Space Farms, Zoo & Museum is
located on Beemerville Road in
Sussex, New Jersey, just 20 minutes
away from Olde Lafayette Village.
It features 500 animals, seven
museum buildings, restaurant, gift
shop, and picnic areas. Space
Farms offers hands-on experience
with animals, a large collection of
wild animals and birds as well as
classic automobiles and carriages,
Indian artifacts and dolls.
For families with younger
children, the prime attraction is
Fairy-Tale Forest, where children’s
stories come to life. The park
consists of 20 acres of enchanted
woodland, an air conditioned snack
bar, picnic area, and souvenir shop.
Kiddie rides such as the Candy
Rock Line train ride, the Merry-go-
round, and Fire-engine are
available. The many attractions
include Humpty Dumpty, Mother
Goose, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding
Hood, Jack ’n the Beanstalk, Snow
White, Cinderella, Hansel and
Gretel, 3 Little Pigs, Little Miss
Muffet, Mary, Mary Quite Contrary,
