Dallas
finishes
last
The Dallas’ baseball team’s
roller-coaster season came to a
screeching halt Monday as the
Mountaineers derailed itself in a 7-6
loss to Tunkhannock for the final
spot in the AAA playoff ranks.
the third, Tunkhannock scored two
runs in the bottom of the inning on
two walks, a bases loaded fielder’s
choice and a ground single to left.
Tunkhannock scored another run
in the fourth to cut the lead to 5-3,
before John Wertman hit a solo
home run in the fifth that cleared
the 370 mark in left center.
The Mountaineers’ hopes for a
third straight playoff appearance
were sidetracked in the sixth when,
with the bases loaded, third base-
man T.J. Perlis couldn’t stab a ball
hit between himself and the third
base line. The ball rolled into the
left field corner while three runs
crossed the plate to put the Tigers
ahead to stay 7-6.
Sophomore southpaw Marc Mirini
got the complete game victory,
while sophomore Scott Francis took
the loss.
Tunkhannock will play Wyoming
Valley West tomorrow in the first
round of the WVC AAA playoffs at
Barney Farms.
