I TOOK THE OPPORTUNITY
last Sunday to attend the opening of
the annual Suzanna Rossetti Juried
Art Contest at the Gallery, College
Misericordia.
The art work on display was truly
imaginative, showing real talent
from younger artists in our area.
A lovely reception had been set up
for the youngsters. Special thanks to
Sue and Joe Hand, sponsors of the
show, who always provide such a
special day for the winners of the
contest.

THE
NUCLEAR
DISASTER in the
Soviet Union
seems like a
nightmare come
true. A science
fiction movie
couldn’t have
painted a
grimmer picture
than what has
actually
happened.
I realize
nuclear energy is
supposed to be a
greater
source and more eocnomical than
other energy forms, but the question
“Could this happen here?” is a very
real concern now.

LAST WEEKEND, on my way
home from L.C.C.C. where I am
taking a weekend class, I spotted a
group of Boy Scouts cleaning up
letter from the side of the road. I
know many of our Boy and Girl
Scouts in the Back Mountain are
working on similar clean up
projects to make our community
clean and beautiful. :
Scouting provides so much in the
way of growing and learning for
young people. It’s unfortunate that
so many teens drop out of Scouts
due to other commitments at that
age. I think the teenage years are
really the most enjoyable time to be
a scout. o

AS IT AM WRITING THIS
COLUMN, my brand new electronic
typewriter is giving me nothing but
trouble. First the lift-off tape got -
stuck to the typewriter ribbon. I
managed to get them untangled
itis 8 o’clock in the morning and I
have to drop off my copy in an hour,
I was praying that the tape didn’t
split.)
Can you imagine what the rest of
my day is going to be like? Oh, well
what will be, will be.
Have a nice week.

Mountain resident whose column
appears weekly in The Dallas Post.)
