SNOW IN APRIL. April 23rd to be
exact, and not a snow flurry either
but as much as 30 inches in the
Poconos. It did stop a lot of people
from moving for several hours. Ray
and Nancy Daring, owners of
Daring’s Market, had a daughter on
her way home who was stranded for
five hours on one of the major
highways. She never did make it to
Dallas, but was able to turn around
and return to her home.

live for 15 months while Claude goes
to school. Claude presently holds a

TONY AND WANDA KOWALSKI
of Noxen were honored at a surprise
25th wedding anniversary party on
Saturday night at Jackson Fire
Hall.
Their daughter, Darlene planned
the entire event from a great buffet
dinner right down to a disc jockey
and dancing. Darlene had a lot of
help from her aunt and cousin also.
The Kowalskis have two daughters,
Darlene and Annette, and the only
thing that couldn’t be worked out
was getting Annette home from
Germany for the special®occasion.
Annette is stationed in Germany
with the U.S. Army. By her chair at
the head table was a beautiful 8x10
picture of her in uniform, she was
indeed a part of it anyway. The
president is not allowing any unn-
cessary flights due to the Libya
crisis or she would have been there.

WOODY LABAR and family have
returned from a great vacation in
Florida. Woody sure
deserved a vacation. He has to be
the happiest, busiest mechanic in
anyway. His wife, whom I don’t
know, surely deserved one too, just
for being his wife. They stayed in a
friend’s condo and had a real fun
week of relaxation and touring.
Glad they’re back. Keith’s car was
there at the garage waiting for him,
as usual.

and area very well over the years
and is an outstanding student scho-
lastically. She will attend Indiana

MYRTLE ELLIOTT of Harveys
Lake and her niece Judy Boyle of
Levittown, were planning a trip of a
lifetime for a long while. The trip
was an 8 day cruise to Mexico,
Jamaica, Key West and surounding
areas. Recently their dream came
true and they were off on their
cruise.
Mrs. Elliott said it was everything
she expected and more, a very
enjoyable vacation until the heat got
to her. Heat and exhaustion
together got too much for her and
when she arrived home. After five
days in the hospital, she’s now home
and feeling much better. Stay well
Mrs. Elliott and only remember the
good part.

MARY LAUER, Shavertown, has
been in the hospital due to a fall at
her home. Mary broke her leg
during the fall which required sur-
gery and she is having a lot of pain
and discomfort while she’s recuper-
ating. Daughter Carol Lauer Cham-
berlain, owner of Carol Lauer’s
Beauty Salon ‘Shear Magic” in
Shavertown, meanwhile gave Mary
a beautiful granddaughter which
arrived 8 weeks early. Mary has
had a lot of unexpected surprises in
her life lately, we congratulate her
as well as wish her a speedy recov-
ery so we can enjoy her new grand-
daughter.
