ra — Notes 90 Mrs. Eva Herdman of Market Street, Noxen, was honored at her home recently with a surprise birth- day paty and open house in observ- ance of her 90th birthday. The party was given by her daughter, Mary Louise Stefanowicz, with over 40 relatives, friends and neighbors attending. Mrs. Herdman is the former Eva Shupp Root. She grew up in Beau- years mont, and attended school there. Eva has one daughter, Mary Louise Stefanowicz of Harveys Lake and a son, Donald, who passed away in 1977. She has eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Eva received many birthday cards, gifts and telephone calls. Everyone attending the party had an enjoyable time and wished her many more birthdays to come. Thirteen quality for regionals Thirteen members of Lake- Lehman’s “Pride of Pennsylvania” band who auditioned at the District IX Music Festival in Tunkhannock recently, qualified for ‘‘The Regional Band” of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and will attend the Music Festival to be held at Dallas High School on April 2,3,4and5. Guest Conductor will be Arlen R. Saylor, former band director of Boyertown High School. Host © Conductor will be David Benn, band director at Dallas High School. Participating students are Dwayne Austin-tuba; Becky Yaple- alto clarinet; Kathy McAvoy-flute; Melissa Hontz-clarinet; Michael Bigus-alto saxophone; Barry Bern- stein-French horn; Eileen Raiter- alto saxophone; Brent Bernstein- trumpet; Kim Weidner-clarinet; Frank Riggins-baritone saxophone; Daniel Smith-tenor saxophone; John Klemunes-trumpet; and Paula Dwyer-contra bass clarinet. On April 18 and 19, the Lake- Lehman Band, under the direction of John Miliauskas, will hold their annual Spring Band Concert at Lake-Lehman High School. Preparations are also underway for their band trip to Virginia Beach. Virginia, from May 15 through May 19, to attend the “Fes- tivals of Music” where they will be in competition against some of the best bands in the United States, in field show, stage band, concert band, parade and band front events. Lake accident but was not seriously hurt. No injuries were reported in a two-car accident last Friday on Carverton Road in Kingston Town- ship. According to police reports, John J. Mendygral, P.O. Box 160, Harvey’s Lake, was traveling north on Rt. 309 near the Carverton Road intersection when he became dis- tracted by a disabled vehicle in the left hand turning lane. Meanwhile, Charles, R. Daven- port, Shady Hill Road, RD 5, Box 170, Shavertown, was stopped at a red light at the intersection. GLEN JOINS PUGLIESE EYE CLINIC Harry G. Glen, M.D. has recently joined the Joseph Pugliese Eye Clinic in Kingston. Dr. Glen will be practicing general opthalmology at the Eye Clinic. Dr. Glen graduated Cum Laude from Franklin and Marshall in Lancaster. He was appointed to the faculty of the physics department of Harvard College prior to receiving his medical degree from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. His externship was served at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of the Harvard Medical School. Dr. Glen completed his internship at the New Hanover Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, North Carolina, and his eye surgery residency at the Georgetown University Center for Sight in Washington, D.C., where he was chief resident. He was appointed clinical instructor of opthalmology at West Virginia University. Dr. Glen is board certified and a diplomat of the American Board of Opthalmology, a member of the American Academy of Opthal- mology, a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners of the United States of America. Dr. Glen was associated with the Golden Medical Group and Memorial General Hospital in Elkins, West Virginia from 1983, until the time he joined the Eye Clinic. Dr. Glen will be taking appointments Monday through Saturday in addition to Wednesday evenings at the Eye Clinic in Kingston, 288- 7605. He will also be taking new patient appointments daily Monday through Friday at the Eye Clinic's two new satellite locations in Bloomsburg, 784-8777 and Berwick, 752-1000.
