JERRY AND SCOTT TORR, both
of Dallas, have been vacationing in
Florida where they visited their
parents, Al and Jane Toor. Al and
Jane spend their winters in Venice,
Florida, at their winter home and
their sons took advantage of a great
time while seeing Mom and Dad
too.

SOME TREES ARE DISAP-
PEARING, the brush is being cut
and soon the ground will begin to
disappear as the beginning stages of
the Fellowship Evangelical Free
Church begin to formulate near
Dallas High School. As soon as the
frost is out of the ground I'm told
the footers will be started.
This church started with only four
families about five years ago and
now an average of 160 people attend
services each Sunday at College
Misericordia’s Merrick Hall. Grow-
ing to the point of needing even
more room a buildhing has become
a reality. Watch the growth in the
Back Mountain, its phenomenal.
Sunrise Services on Easter morning
will be on the lot if you don’t have a
church call Pastor Dwight Hodne
for times etc.

MR. AND MRS. ALEX REBAR of
Lehman have returned home after
spending a month vacationing in
time in Orlando, Disneyworld, San-
ford and many other of their favor-
ite winter spots.
Mr. and Mrs. Rebar are a very
sweet couple, very special to all of
us who were ‘Dallas Junior
Women.” Mr. Rebar followed and
photographed our projects for so
many years and we all grew to love
him and his wife. It’s really my
pleasure to report they are really
enjoying their lives and retirement,
they gave so much joy to so many
over the years.

DONALD AND SHIRLEY
HANSON of Harveys Lake have
also returned home to the freezing
weather. They spend a lot of time in
Hilton Head, South Carolina where
they own land. Shirley’s wearing a
nice tan and is really counting on
Pennsylvania sunshine soon to keep
it.

JO CAROL, STEVE AND SUSIE
BUCKLEY of Haddonfield Hills,
have returned home after spending
a week in Clearwater, Florida with
Jo’s parents, Jack and Lana Birns-
tock. The Birnstocks are former
Kunkle residents now permanently
living in Clearwater.
Steve is our paperboy, one of the
best paperboys in Pennsylvania, I
might add, and he said they had a
great time, he flew for the first time

Luzerne

and loved it. Mom and Suzie had
flown before.
Steve also celebrated his 11th
birthday while in Florida. They got
to visit Cypress Gardens, Busch
Gardens and swam at Clearwater
Beach. Steve says he got the best
tan. I haven’t seen the rest of them
but I’m sure he’s right. Dad, Jim
and baby brother, Todd, stayed
home to keep the fires burning and I
know they too are glad to have the
family home.

JIM AND JET COOK of Lehman
have also returned home after vaca-
tioning in Florida. The Cooks
arrived home just in time to wel-
come another grandchild. They
arrived home on Sunday and daugh-
ter Karen gave birth to her second
daughter on Monday. What a nice
welcome home present.

I END MY COLUMN THIS
WEEK with a get well wish to Mrs.
Harold Brobst. Mrs. Brobst, whom
many of us recognize as an
employee of United Penn Bank in
Dallas, is a surgical patient in the
NPW Hospital in Plains. All of her
friends send her wishes for a speedy
and complete recovery.

ALSO, STILL NEED TO
REMEMBER Arline Bergavin of
Joseph St., Dallas, who was injured
in a car accident a couple weeks
ago. Mrs. Bergavin is still bedrid-
den and has a long way to go before
her legs are back to normal.

SALVATORE'S
course slated
A few hours of spare time each
week and the desire to help others
are all a teenage girl needs to join
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital's
summer Candy Striper program.
The hospital’s Volunteer Services
Department is now accepting appli-
cations for its summer program,
which begins June 16 and ends
August 31.
Girls 13 to 18 years of age may
volunteer to work in one of four
service areas -fAdmissions, In-Hos-
pital Service, Hospitality Cart or
Nursing Service. Each service gives
Candy Stripers an opportunity to
work in the hospital, help patients
and staff, and, gain some valuable
experience in a health care setting.
Girls who work in Admissions
help process and transport patients
who are admitted to the hospital,
while girls who volunteer in Nursing
Services perform non-professional
nursing duties for patients and the
nursing staff. The In-Hospital Serv-
ice involves sorting and delivering
mail, flowers and packages to
patients, as well as assisting with
patients’ admission and discharge.
Candy Stripers on the Hospitality
Cart service tour the hospital to sell
magazines, gifts, candy and other
articles to patients and staff.
