Coach Ed Ladamus’ Lake-Lehman matmen-took 10 of
the 12 bouts in their meet with Pittston Area Saturday
to move their league record to 10-1 behind Wyoming
Area and Hazleton, both holding 10-0 records.
Right move
The Knights took the first three bouts on two pins and
a technical but dropped the 119-lb. and 126-lb. bouts
before rallying to take the final seven to defeat the
Patriots 51-9.
Knight Matt Reinert pinned 98-1b. Joe Zerbals in :53
seconds and teammate Mark Rogowski clamped 105-1b.
Fran Lombardo in 2:42. 112-1b. Jeff Austin added a win

119-1b. Dave Orlowski gave the Patriots three team
points by defeating Knight Dave Guzenski 7-2 and
Patriot 126-1b. Dave Herbert continued undefeated by
flattening Chris Frederick in 1:05.
That was the last bout for the Patriots as the Knights
went to work and took the remaining seven.
132-1b. Joe Smith shut out Patriot Joe Leteki 3-0. 138-
1b. Bob Guzenski gave the Knights six points with a 17-0
technical fall over John Balchun and 145-lb. Tim
Bernick decisioned Rod Pocchessi 11-6.
155-1b. Don Spencer picked up another pin for the
Knights by turning over Bart Weidlich in 3:21 and 165-
Ib. Bill George won a close 12-11 bout over Tony
Calabro. 185-1b. Shafer flattened Lou Scarentino in 4:34
and Hwt. Stan Sims clamped Russell Keeler in 2:53.
Earlier in the week the Knights defeated the
Crestwood Comets 35-27 to post their ninth win in
league competition.
In a meet that went down to the last two bouts, 185-
Ib. Scott Shafer pinned Chad Yordy and Hwt. Ed
Stratford took an 8-0 bout from Don Pry to give the
Knights the win.
The capacity crowd at the Lake-Lehman School saw
several junior varsity wrestlers in the Knights line-up
due to varsity grappler down with the flu.
The Knights won the first three bouts started by 98-
1b. Matt Reinert’s 8-0 win over Alan Hosage. 105-1b. Jeff
Austin clamped Rob Aideldinger in 4:26 and 112-lb.
Dave Guzenski flattened Pat Rother in 3:57.
The next two bouts went to the Comets with 119-lb.
Darren Testa pinning T. Monaco in 1:41 and 126-1b. Jeff
Hill taking a 7-4 decision from Chris Frederick.
The Knights 132-1b. Bob Guzenski defeated Aigeldin-
ger 11-5 but the 138-lb. bout went to Comet Mark
Wychock who took a 16-0 technical fall over Mark
Yaple in 4:44.
145-1b. Don Spencer put the Knights back in the win
column with a 2:29 fall over Brian Ross but 155-1b.
Dave Adamczyk clamped Bill George in 2:56 and 167-
Ib. Erik Costello added six more to the Comets team
points by turning over Ernie Clamar in 1:33.
With the Comets leading 27-25, Knight Scott Shafer
lost little time in putting the Knights back in the lead
by flattening 185-lb. Chad Yordy in 2:50 and Hwt. Ed
Stratford cinched the win for Lake-Lehman by shutting
out Don Pry 8-0 to give the Knights the 35-27 victory.
The Dallas Mountaineers took a 15-0 lead after their
first four bouts against the Hazleton Mountaineers last
Wednesday but the Hazleton Mounts took a decision an
two pins in the next trhee bouts to tie the score at 15-15,
and the Mounts 145-1b. Juan Hernandez took a 5-1 win
from Jerry Faulls to put his Hazleton team in the lead
18-15. Dallas went back in front in the 155-1b. bout when
J. Ogurkis pinned Jason Pedriani in :52 seconds but the
Hazleton Mounties came back to take the final three
bouts and the 34-21 win. J
98-1b. Jim O’Donnell started Dallas off with a win by
taking ‘a 4-2 bout from Randy Swank and 105-lb. B.
Mathers followed with a technical 17-0 fall in 5:23 over
Jim Mazonis. 112-lb. Paul Burke moved the score to 12-
0 by defeating Kevin Ferry 10-4 and 119-1b. Eric Olsen
gave Dallas a 15-0 lead by edging Jeff Seiwell 6-4.
Hazleton tied the match score at 15 with 126-1b. Harry
Avillon’s 5-2 decision over Bill Janosky, 132-1b. Lou
Colangelo’s pin in 3:03 over Mike Richards and 138-1b.
Steve Fisher’s fall over Brian Maseychik in 2:44. 145-1b.
Juan Fernandez gave his Hazleton team the elad by
taking a 5-1 bout from Gene Faulls but 155-1b. Jerry
Ogurkis took the lead back for Dallas by clamping
Pedriani in 52 seconds.
Hazleton started on the win road with 167-1b. Jeff
Hoffman’s pin over Dale Williams in 1:33 to move their
team score to 24-21, and 185-1b. Alan Obert took a
major 13-3 decision from Chris Vincelli to give his team
28-21. Hwt. Tom Miner finished the meet by flattening
Tom Charney in :48 seconds to give Hazleton the 34-21
team win. :
The Knights meet Hanover, away, Feb. 12, then
Hanover, away, Feb. 15. The Mountaineers travel to
Coughlin, Feb. 12 and meet Pittston, away, Feb. 15.

Dallas soccer players to give clinic #
An indoor soccer clinic will be
conducted every Thursday and
Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.
starting Feb. 27 and ending April 4
at the Dallas Twp. Elementary
School Gym for boys and girls ages
6 through 12 years of age.
Cost of the clinic is $20 for the
Back Mt. Baseball
to sign up players
for league action
Back Mt. Baseball Inc. will con-
duct its final registration of players
from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Feb. 22, at
the Shavertown U.M. Church.
Children are eligible to register
- for Little League hardball, ages 7-
12; girls softball, ages 9-15; 13 year
Old League, age 13 and Teener
League, ages 13 to 15. First time
players must present birth certifi-
cates and all players must be
first child in a family and $15 for
each additional child. Games will be
played and soccer instruction will
be given during the clinic.
Members of the Dallas High
School Soccer Team will instruct
the clinic. Proceeds from the clinic
will be used to send the team to
Scotland in August of 1986.
