College Misericordia’s Lady Cou-
gars soundly defeated Luzerne
County Community College Minute-
maids 64-46 at Community College
last week.
Sue Sharp scored a game high 24
points to lead the Cougars in the win
and move their record to 5-4. Sharp
also scored 10 rebounds.
The Lady Cougars led 27-23 at
halftime with 11 of these points
scored by Sharp. Kim Stetzer
scored 13 points and pulled down 14
The Minutemaids were paced by
Debbie Pearn who scored 13 points
for the losing team.

Mike Slavoski scored 14 points to
help Philadelphia Pharmacy cagers
defeat Misericordia’s Cougars 89-54
at the Pharmacy’s floor. Brian
Murray led the winning team with
15 points followed by Slavoski and
Kelly with 14 each and Keglovitz
with 12. The win upped the Phar-
macy’s record to 14-5 while the
Cougars dropped to 8-9.
Anthony Wilson was high for the
Cougars with 19 points with Pat
Kingland and Greg Kupp chipping
in 12 each.

Twin brothers Rocky and Ricky
Bonomo, graduates of Lake-
Lehman, both won championships
for Bloomsburg University in the
Pennsylvania Conference wrestling
championships two weeks ago at
Clarion University. Rocky, who
wrestled at 134 pounds, won by
default of Clarion’s Paul Clark in 38
seconds of their championship bout,
and Ricky, wrestling at 126 pounds,
took an 8-2 decision over Matt
Avery of Lock Haven. The Bonomo
twins are students at Bloomsburg.
Rocky Bonomo has been named a
wrestling team for the rest of the
season. Bonomo, junior at Blooms-
burg University, will join John
Gibas and Darrin Evans as captains
for the Huskies, who have an 8-3
record.

Rachel Holthaus, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Richard Holthaus, Dallas,
earned 27.8 points to aid the Wilkes-
Barre Family YMCA Spinners to a
128.9-105.6 season opener win over
the Pocono Family YMCA Flipettes,
last Saturday at East Stroudsburg
University. Rachel earned her
points in vaulting, on the uneven
bars, the balance beam and the
floor exericises. A student at Dallas
Junior High School, she also earned
an All-Around ribbon in the 14-and-
over age category.
Former Dallas high school basket-
ball player Cheryl Gavigan scored
15 points and grabbed eight
rebounds to lead King’s College to a
72-62 win. Cheryl is a freshman at
King’s.

Dallas Unico’s Sixth Annual Spa-
ghetti Supper to be held Feb. 17
from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Dallas
High School, will benefit the Dallas
High School cheerleaders. Cost of
the supper is $4 for adults and $3 for
children. Takeouts are available.
Proceeds will be used to help defray
the cost of the cheerleaders trip to
the national competition in Florida.
The Dallas High School Soccer
team is tentatively planning a two
week tour of Scotland during
August, 1986. The Parents Club is
sponsoring several fund raising
events.
Friday, Feb. 7, from 8 p.m. to 12
p.m. at Penn State Lehman
Campus, the club will sponsor a
50’s-60’s dance with Harry West.
Donations are $10 a ticket. Plenty of
food, soda, mixers, and beer wil lbe
provided as well as costume and
door prizes. Contact any member
for tickets before the dance - no
tickets at the door.
Saturday, April 19, a craft fair is
tentatively planned at the Dallas
High School.
In June, at Irem Temple Country
Club, the Parents Club will have a
golf tournament.
Remembering all the support
Wyoming Seminary received with
their Super China trip, we are
hoping the public will support the
Dallas team as well.
E. Dingle rolled 507 to lead
Butch’s team ‘to a shut out over
Chubbie’s in Our Gang League and
Doreen Jenkins hit 185 to lead the
Farinas to four points from Alfalfas.
Marie Carkhuff rolled 189 for the
Porky five to aid them in picking up
three points from the Buckwheats.
The Worms took all from Spanky’s
team with no one able to hit high
scores.

paced by Buck Roberts 212 (515). J.
Mitchell walloped the pins for 234
(563) and H. Shupp rolled 521 to lead
the Orange men to taking all from
Trucksville C. East Dallas men
picked up four points on a forfeit by
Shavertwon C while Trucksville B
took three points from Carverton A
aided by W. Perry’s 516. S. Perry
knocked down pins for 214 (591) to
pace Carverton B to three points
from Maple Grove, whose Glen
Mazur rolled 565.
Gloria Grant tumbled pins for 170
to lead Franklin’s in taking three
points from the Hoagie Bar in the
Bowlerette League. N. Moser’s 204

KNIGHTS LOSE
At the other end of the Back
Mountain, Coach Rodger Bearde’s
Lake-Lehman Knights lost in a close
32-22 game to Northwest.
Both teams played a deliberate
offense but the Rangers wore down
the Black Knights, whittling a few
points in each period to take the
win.
In the first period, Northwest took
an 8-6 lead and outscored the
Knights 6-3 in the second period to
hold a 14-9 lead at halftime.
In one of their lowest scoring
games of the season, the Rangers
doubled their scoring over the
Knights taking an 8-4 lead for the
third period and an overall 22-13
lead into the final quarter. In the
final period the Knights scored the
first six points to come within three
points of the Rangers 22-19. But the
Rangers took over and outscored
the Knights to take the 32-22 win.
HOUCK HIGH SCORER
Carl Houck was high scorer for
the Knights with eight points.
Darryl Sherrick scored 12 for North-
west. His brother, Dave, and Mark
LeValley each hit for eight.
In Tuesday’s game with Meyers,
Knight Jeff Ruzicki connected for
two free throws with only nine
second remaining in the game to
give the Black Knights a 50-49 upset
over the Mohawks.
His foul points gave the Knights a
three-point 50-47 lead over the
Mohawks but a two-point toss by
Meyers Mark Atherton gave the
Knights the one-point win.
Leading by only 25-24 at the half,
it was the Knights shooting at the
foul line that helped them take the
game as they hit nine for 14 in the
fourth period. They connected for
18-26 for the game.
Carl Houck scored 19 points for
the Knights, nine of them from the
field and one-for-two from the foul
line. Houck scored 12 of his points in
the second half to keep the Knights
in the game. Keith Kendall and
Chris Landmesser each had eight
points for the Black Knights.
The Knights were scheduled to play
GAR at home, Tuesday night, and
Dallas, away, Thursday, Feb. 6.
Dallas was to play West Side Tech,
away, Tuesday. After Lehman, Feb.
6 they meet Hanover, away, Sat.
Feb. 8. Knights meet West Side
Tech at hme, Saturday night.

Kordish gave the Cougars their
first six points with a technical fall
over Brian Maseychik in 4:19 but
145-1Ib. Gene Faulls gave Dallas six
points to move them to 39-6 by
pinning Jeff Calachino in 3:04. 155-
Ib. Gerry Ogurkis added six more
by clamping Scott Bianchi in 3:07
and 167-Ib. Chris Vincelli took a
major 8-0 decision from Brian Orfal-
ano. 185-1b. Dale Williams won by a
forfeit to move the Mountaineers
score to 55-6 and Hwt. Ron Fabri
ended the meet with a 1:37 pin over
Tom Charney to put the final score
at 55-12.
TO THE WIRE
The Dallas-Hanover meet went
down to the wire with the Hawkeyes
winning it in the final bout.
Dallas’ 185-1b. Chris Vincelli flat-
tened Hanover’s John Bleich in 5:59
to give the Mountaineers a 26-23
lead. The two heavyweights came
out on the mat, shook hands and
started the bout.
Hanover’s Sam Guesto used a
takedown in the first period to lead
2-0 but then caught Mountaineer
Tom Charney in a half nelson to pin
him in 1:07 and give Hanover the 29-
26 win.
ON BOARD FIRST
Hanover went on the board first
when their 98-1b. Bob Hawkins
pinned Jim O’Donnell in 1:17 and
105-Ib. Mike Swiderski took a 5-3
decision from Brian Mathers.
With Hanover leading 9-0, Mount
Paul Burke gave Dallas six points
by clamping Bill Snyder in 1:50 to
move the score to 9-6. 119-1b. Keith
Graham gave Hanover three points
when he was decisioned by Hawk-
eye Mike Jaslar 4-2 and 126-1b.
Terry Kocher added three points by
defeating Mount Bill Janosky 10-5.
With the score 15-6 Hanover, 132-
Ib. Mike Richards took Joe Ropief-
ski 8-5 to cut the Hawkeyes lead to
15-9. 138-lb. Scott Mangan and
Bryan Maseychik wrestled to a 4-4
draw, moving the team socre to 17-
11. 145-Ib. Mount Gene Faulls shut
out Jason Martinez 4-0 to make the
team score 17-14. Jerry Ogurkis put
Dallas in front 20-17 by taking a
technical fall over Dave Hosage in
4:00.
167-1b. Mike Kosloski put the
Hawkeyes back in the lead 23-20 by
clamping Dale Williams in 2:38.
185-1b. Chris Vincelli grabbed the
lead again for the Mountaineers by
flattening John Bleich in 5:59 but
Sam Guesto took the meet for
