by and say hello, introduce yourself
to me and it’ll be fun getting to

SPEAKING OS STAPINSKI’S, it
was a very nice dinner for the
employees at Picketts Charge last
Sunday evening. Twenty nine
employees from the store all gath-
ered in our local eating place to
share a holiday dinner. At the head
of the table were John and Marie
Stapinski who joined Dallas store
manager Jack McGee and wife,
Doris in wishing all a Happy Holi-
day. Why is eating always so enjoy-
able?

their brand new baby girl home to
Grandma and Grandpa for the first
time since her birth just a few
weeks ago. Congratulations Theresa
and Ed! This is: their first grand-
child. Aunt Karen, Aunt Kim and
Uncle Ken are pretty proud too.
THE LOZIERS, former Dallas

holiday also. Traveling from Flor-

A FUN ICE SKATING EXPEDI-
ence for brother David Orehotsky
last Saturday. David and Larson
have travelled all over the world
safely and had to come home to get
injured. Seems David’s fall left him
with a chipped collarbone, bad
facial bruises and a sleepless couple
of nights. Hope you're on the mend,
David.

HAPPY TO SEE BRETT BIT-
TENBENDER of Kunkle is getting
around on his crutches and doing
better each day. Brett was shot,
mistaken for a bear, during bear
season. He has serious injuries to
his leg, has had surgery on theleg

and has a long way to go until he’s
totally healed. Our prayer is for a
painless recovery for Brett. After
being a patient in Robert Packer
Hospital, Sayre, Brett is now home
with Doty and Lucille. Tender
loving care from Mom and Dad is
always the best, Brett!

ANYONE WHO STOPS in at
Kasardas in Dallas will know
“Connie’’. Connie and Randy Jones,
Lehman, had the nicest Christmas
present from their children and
Connie’s brother Chris. A night at
the Woodlands, dinner, a room,
breakfast and all the tirmmings. I
had the pleasure of selling her
“Musk” perfurme, Connie was so
excited, she stopped. for the perfect
color of nylons, the perfect Musk
cologne and she was just bubbling
as she prepared to use the gift
certificate that night. What a gift, I
hope her kids read this, I can tell
you first hand, you really made a
“hit” with your gift to Mom and
Dad this year.

MOST OF OUR READERS will
remember Mr. Lester Squier, prin-
cipal of Lehman High School fo
many years. He too passed through
the cosmetic department last week
with his son who was home from
Florida for the holiday. I knew
immediately who he was but I'm
not sure he recognized me. My first
reaction to seeing him was a
thought about a book called “I Dare
You”. When I was a junior in high
school, I decided I wanted to quit
school, go to work, make lots of
money and do all the fun things you
can’t do when you're still in school.
My father called our dear principal
and squealed on me so when I got to
school the next day he called me to
the office, presented me with this
book’s views and just said “think
about it.” Needless to say I gradu-
ated and will always be grateful to
Mr. Squier, some principals would
not have cared.
THAT’S IT FOR THIS WEEK, if
you have any news or comments
give me a call 675-1392 after 6 or
drop me a card, Box 83J, RD 5,
Dallas, Pa. 18612 and together we’ll
keep the ‘Back Mountain on the
Move.”

Robins Co.
AH. Robins Company tomorrow
has launched a comprehensive
three-week notification program
citing April 30, 1986 as the deadline
for filing claims relating to use of
the Dalkon Shield, an intrauterine
birth control device formerly mar-
keted by the company.
Robins, which marketed the
Dalkon Shield in the early 1970s,
currently is developing a plan of
reorganization under Chapter 11 of
the United States Bankruptcy Code.
The company filed for reorganiza-
tion August 21, 1985 after the burden
of litigation relating to the Dalkon
Shield had reached a monthly level
in excess of $15 million. i
Under an order of the United
States District Court in Richmond,
Robins will run paid advertising on
television and in newspapers and
magazines across the country
through January 25.
The advertisements state that if
you (a) may have been injured
becuase you used the Dalkon Shield
or (b), may have used the Dalkon
shield but have not as yet experi-
enced an injury or (c) may have
been injured because of another
person’s use of the Dalkon Shield,
you will lose your right to make a
claim if the claim is not received by
the court on or before April 30, 1986.
The advertisements note that
claims may be made by simply
mailing a postcard or letter contain-
ing the claimant’s full name and
complete address and a statement
that she or he is making a Dalkon
Shield claim. The postcard or letter
must be mailed to Dalkon Shield,
P.O. Box, 444, Richmond, VA 23203.
Claimants then will be sent a ques-
tionnaire and further instructions
questionnaire must be completed
and returned to the court by June
30, 1986.
The advertisiments also note that
claimants do not need a lawyer to
file a claim.

LIKE MOST
AREA FOLKS we
were glued to our
television - New
Year’s evening
watching the
Orange Bowl.
Some area resi-
dents, however,
chose to travel to
Miami and
enjoy the game in person. Sally and
Harry Davenport, daughters Debra
and Lisa attended the game here
their son Harry B. Davenport per-
formed in the half time show with
the Penn State Blue Band. Harry, a
graduate of Dallas High School, has
been a member of the Blue Band
throughout his college years.
WELCOMING IN THE NEW
YEAR can be celebrated in various
ways. For the second year we par-
ticipated in a progressive dinner
which proved to be lots of fun.
Beginning at our home for cocktails
and hors d’oeuvres we proceeded to
the home of Joan and Dave Roskos
for a divine dinner of lobster, on to

the home of Hans and Colleen Lank-
warden for dessert (plum pudding
with brandy sauce, a delicious
frozen confection made with orange
liquer, or Dutch apple fritters were
the choices), then on to the home of
Dave and Lolly Larkins for mid-
night.
At the last home our children
were waiting for us. We welcomed
in 1986 with streamers, sionging the
traditional Auld Lang Syne, then
had lots of fun playing charades
until the wee hours. The generation
gap, however, was apparent while
playing charades. The younger
people would stand up, indicate the
act out a book, television program,
etc. very few times. But it sure was
a wonderul New Year’s Eve.
