CHRISTMAS DAY has come and
gone for 1985. This week those of us
who have time off are enjoying a
nice vacation, while the children are
having lots of fun with the toys
Santa brought them. This is also a
week for holiday get togethers with
many people visiting friends and
relatives to wish them season’s
greetings.

A FEW WEEKS BEFORE
CHRISTMAS while visiting my
daughter, Nancy, who was a patient
at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, I
ran into Miss Jessica Thomas, one
of my former teachers from Lake-
Lehman High School. I can honestly
say that she was by far one of the
finest teachers that I ever had, and
I know that my love of reading
stems from her fine teaching abili-

again.

THERE IS A TREMENDOUS
PUSH on this year through the
media to avoid drinking and driv- i
ing. Drinking slows down reflexes,
and with the nasty weather we have Bs
been experiencing, it just isn’t a
good idea to drive after a few
drinks. On New Year’s Eve, when
lots of people will be taking a drink,
try to make some prior arrange-
ments to have a non-drinker drive
or hire a taxi to take you home. In
this way you can party as much as
you wish, and not even have to think
about the drive home.

Here are some tips that are guaranteed to
make you shine in any spotlight.
Remember you want to look as far away from
“everyday” as possible. Different, striking, and
chic, is the look you want.
BLACK — Nothing is more dramatic than black.
appearance with pizzazz.
GLOVES — Short or long cotton or lace gloves
add excitement.
ELABORATE MAKEUP — You can't look glamour-
ous if you skimp on cosmetics. Go heavy on eye
' shadows, and glasses. Add a dark lipstick to
make the mouth stand out. Red looks terrific.
HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR.
