An agreement between the Penn- sylvania Fish Commission’s water- ways conservation officers and the Commonwealth was ratified by the officers on November 27, 1985. The agreement became effective on November 30, 1985 and will extend through June 30, 1988. There are two major provisions in the new agreement. Officers are now authorized 150 hours annually of overtime at straight-time pay that can be scheduled, within cer- tain constraints, without approval of their regional supervisors. Overtime work beyond 150 hours per year will be compensated, at the straight- time rate, in cash or compensatory time at the employes’ option. Previously, waterways conserva- tion officers were required to work on Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day. Under the new agreement, Labor Day would be eliminated as a required work day. However, super- visors would require an officer to work on Labor Day if they deemed it necessary. In addition, minor modifications were made in provisions for vaca- tion recall, work on scheduled days off, and a slight increase in office rent and subsistence was awarded.
