Teachers honored Three foreign language teachers from the Dallas School District were among the more than 45 area foreign language teachers who attended the annual dinner meeting sposnored by the King's College department of foreign languages and literatures. THE SECOND GRADE, 201 anx- iously welcomed back Mrs. ruch from her honeymoon with a large “Welcome Back’’ poster. They were all very happy to see her and wanted to know about her cruise. Mrs. Garvey, who substituted for Mrs. Ruch, helped entertain ideas for the poster. -0- MRS. RUTKOSKI’'S SIXTH GRADE READING CLASS is involved in the ‘Book It” program sponsored by Pizza Hut. The pro- gram consists of sets of minimum monthly required reading lists. On reaching the set goal, the student is awarded with a certificate for free pizza from Pizza Hut. Students chart their achievement on progress charts. The hope of this program is to encourage reading. -0- MR. ABE SIMON, seventh-grade math adviser, is using LOGO on the Apple Ile to help with the under- standing of geometry and task anal- ysis and problem solving. -0- GATE OF HEAVEN PTG HOLI- DAY FAIR will be held Dec. 1 and Dec. 2, in the school gym. On Sunday it is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Monday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. There are some beautiful crafts, delicious food, Christmas baked goods, etc. Come and bring a friend. -0- STUDENTS OF THE WEEK : Stephen Greger is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Greger of Dallas. Stephen is the president of the Student Council, an altar boy, and a member of the basketball team. Science is his favorite subject and he enjoys soccer and baseball in the sports area. Following graduation, Stephen plans to attend college but ~ he is not quite sure what he will pursue. Tammy Gale is the daughter Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Latosek and she lives in Shavertown. Box 366 309-415 Plaza Dallas, Pa. 18612 ivf Re Open House set Bishop O'Reilly High School, Kingston, will host an open house for current eighth grade students and their parents so that they may examine the west-side high school as an option for next fall. In addition, current high school students who are considering transferring are welcome. The program, which is set for Sunday afternoon, Dec. 8 at 1:30 p.m. will begin in the gym, where Rev. Michael Piccola, Principal, will welcome parents and students, and introduce a slide presentation about the school. Afterwards, student guides will conduct groups of parents and students on a tour of the school, periodically stopping for demonstrations in the science labs, language center, computer lab, and weight training center. Teachers and coaches will be available to answer questions and to tell participants about academic and extra-curricular programs at the school. The afternoon will conclude with a brief social in the cafeteria for students, parents, teachers and administrators. Queen crowned The College Misericordia Homecoming Queen and her court were crowned during Alumni Homecoming Week- end at the Dallas campus: Maria Pallante, homecoming queen, was presented with a bouquet of roses by college President Joseph Fink. She was escorted by Michael Daley, at left. Pallante, a senior history-pre-law major, is the daughter of Francis and Shirley Pallante, of Westville, N.J.
