U-10 DIVISION In the Under 10 Division, the Bk. Mt. Cosmos downed the Kingston Comets when Cosmo Jennifer Jones and Robbi Kohli nailed one each thru the net in the 3rd and 4th quarter respectively. The Comets held a 1-0 lead thru the first half on a Brian Niemkiewicz goal in the 2nd quarter. A good defensive effort was turned in by fullbacks Kelly Whalen, Karen Krysiewski, Goalie Jo Gaunahnand Cosmo Sean Calla- an. Also in U-10 the Mt. Top Taco Benders led 1-0 over the Bk. Mt. Stallions thru 3 quarters on a Laura Teitelbaum goal before Brian Gainey blasted two into the net for the Stallions in the fourth quarter. U-12 DIVISION The U-12 Division had the W-B Skyhawks downing the Back Mt. Express 3 to 1 when Jay Williams banged in two and R.J. Chesna ripped the nets for a goal and a trip to the finals. Ned Palka scored early for the Express. The Back Mt. Chargers won over the Back Mt. Furty 6 to 4 and now face the W-B Skyhawks in the final game on Saturday. Charger scoring was done by Matt Sleightholm (2), Chris Boraski (2) and Dave Fisher (2). Steve Rosenthal sent three past the goalie and Billy Richardson scored one to keep the Fury close. Nice defensive efforts were turned in by Krisie Elechko and Jeff Hoz- empa of the Fury while Leann Simon and Steve McCafferty played Fast action well for the Chargers. U-14 DIVISION The U-14 Divsion had the Mt. Top Green Machine giving the Back Mt. Sockers all they could handle before falling by a score of 3 to 1. The first two scores of the game came from John Baranowski and Brian Hampel before Debbie Skronski with an assist from Dennis Jumper, closed the gap. Kenny Klimovitch blasted in the final goal for the winning sockers. Also in U-14, the Plains Wolver- ines, behind two Chris Sincavage goals, beat the Bk. Mt. Cosmos 2 to 1. Neil Kaiser scored late for the Cosmos. U-16 DIVISION U-16 play saw the Bk. Mt. Row- dies down the Bk. Mt. Cosmos 2-1 in a hard-fought semi-final battle. Super defensive, play by goalie Howie Hopson, halfbacks Becky Geffert, Larry Stearn and Chris Graver and fullbacks Joyce Tinner, Reese Finn, Jen Moran and Steve Sours proved too much for the Cosmos to handle. Reese Finn scored for the Rowdies in the 3rd quarter on a penalty kick before Tyler Wilson tied the game at 1 each with a penalty kick. Wes Wuori finished the scoring for a Rowdie win. Local girl wins third in skiing race Competing in the Coca-Cola Junior NASTAR recreational ski racing program, Dallas resident Laura Maturi placed 3rd in Pennsyl- vania in the 16-18 year old age category. Maturi recorded a season best 32 handicap while racing at Montage, Pennsylvnaia, to earn 3rd place. During the 1984-85 season, over 100,000 young skiers participated in gram held at 135 ski areas nation- wide. Each racer’s best handicpa of the season was recorded and all participants were ranked by handi- cap, age and gender in each of the 34 states. The Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center is now accepting reg- istrations for its Second Annual Winter Indoor Soccer League according to Ed DeMichele, CYC Athletic Director. The CYC Youth Soccer League will be played on Sundays starting January 5, 1986 for ages 6 thru 14. Divisions are broken down into 6-8 year olds, 9-11 year olds and 12-14 year olds. A draft will be held the opening week of Decem- ber to fill the rosters of each team in the league. Rob Jemio, Soccer Coordinator and Ed DeMichele will place children on teams. Teams are not accepted in this league but car pulls will be accepted with a limit of five per team. DeMichele would also like to announce the formation of a new Indoor Teenage Soccer League for 15, 16, and 17 year olds, which will be played on Monday nights. Teams and individuals are invited to join this league. The league will play under the rules of mini-soccer which the professionals play.
