SCID
(Continued from page 1)
The estimated $25,000 siren
project will entail building a single
siren tower at the three separate
locations. The three sites are
located along Huntsville Road near
Huntsville Nursery, a stone quarry
near the Jackson Township Munici-
pal garage and a third site located
behind the SCID administration
building.
Ryan said the siren project will go
out to bid on November 1 and
continued by saying, ‘December 1
is the earliest date to begin con-
struction.” The siren system was
originally scheduled to be built in
August of September of this past
year, but was held up in budget
proceedings.
District court
A Shavertown resident will face
charges of simple assault and disor-
derly conduct on November 18
before District Justice Earl Gregory
stemming from an October 23 inci-
dent where the defendant allegedly
assaulted a 73-year-old school bus
driver.
Scheduled to appear before Greg-
ory is 18-year-old John Charles
Spencer of 145 Manor Drive, Shav-
ertown.
According to an incident report
filed by Kingston Township patrol-
man Walter Balavage, Spencer was
riding on a Dallas Area School bus
along with first and’second graders,
when the incident reportedly
ocurred.
The report filed with Gregory
says Spencer was using ‘‘obscene’’
language in the presence of the
small children and the bus driver,
Afton: Reese, ordered Spencer to
stop using the foul language.
Spencer reportedly retorted, ‘I do
not have to stop,” to Reese and
continued to use the obscene lan-
guage. :
Reese then stopped the school bus
near the intersection of Shadetree
and Woodbine street, Midway
Manor, Dallas, and pulled a crow-
bar our from under his seat and
block.
ordered Spencer off the bus.
Reese told police that when Spen-
cer left the bus he began. using
obscene language again and was
banging on the side of the bus.
Reese said Spencer then climbed
back into the bus and pulled the 73-
year-old bus driver out onto the
street where Reese fell onto a
nearby sewer grid.
then took the crowbar and began
banging a nearby stop sign while
Reese laid on the street. A nearby
neighbor scared Spencer away from
the scene, the report states.
The report: also states that while
Spencer and Reese were confronting
eachother, some of the first and
second grade children were crying
and climbing out of the emergency
The report continues that Spencer exit of the bus.
