    Program begins
The Sixth Mead (Meade) family
reunion was held recently at Moon
. Lake State Park with 41 persons in
attendance. Invocation was offered
by Harvey Meade and a covered
dish lunch was enjoyed by all. The
business meeting was conducted by
President Anna Mead Comiskey.
Officers elected for the coming
year: President, Anna Mead Comis-
key; vice president-treasurer,
Funds donated
The Pennsylvania Loyal Order of
Moose have doanted $21,000 to the
three state chapters of the Arthritis
Foundation. The funds were raised
in a statewide effort by dozens of
local Moose lodges, each of whom
has made arthritis their primary
charitable concern.
The donation was presented in
Philadelphia by Leonard Phillips
and James Fleming, Central and
Western Pennsylvania representa-
tives. of the Moose. F. Richard
Hammel, Jr., Board Chairman of
the Arthritis Foundation’s Eastern
Pennsylvania Chapter, accepted the
donation on behalf of the Eastern,
Central and Western Pennsylvania
Chapters of the Foundation.
The money will be used to support
ongoing community programs,
patient services and medical
research.

The birth of a son, Robert
Michael, to Robert and Carol Ann
Mrs. Nancy McDonald filled in as Cub Master at the
first Pack Meeting of the year for Cub Scout Pack 281.
Mrs. McDonald was presented with a 20 year service
pin. Nineteen of the 20 years of service has been to
Pack 281. Mrs. Melinda Seidel announced the pack
gained all new Tigers, 5 new Cubs and 1 new Webelos,
bringing the pack membership to 50 boys.
The following Scouts received a one year service
pin: Chris Kile. Scouts receiving one year service and
one year perfect attendance were: Ron Hubbard,
Chris Stevens, Nelson Downend, Michael Goldsmith,
Donnie Hartshorne, Dennis Miller, Ed Schall, Jamie
Bottoms, Eric St. Clair, Carl Wiedlick and Ray
Buckman. Those receiving two year service pins
were: Christian Brown and Josiah Garlan. Scouts
receiving two year service pins and two year perfect
attendance were: Ron Dugan, Brad Bryant, Andy
Flint, Ronnie Moses, Chris Pelton, Bill Camp, Jeff
Hozempa, Bobby Sarley, and David Seidel.
Several Scouts received three year service pins and
three year perfect attendance: David Holdredge,
Kevin Loeffler and David Podehl. Several Scouts
worked diligently over the summer and earned
arrows: Brad Kozich, two silver arrows; Jamie
Bottoms, one gold arrow; Ray Buckman, one gold
arrow and one silver arrow. Jamie Bottoms also
received his Bear Badge.
Two special awards were also presented: The Cub
Scout Outdoor Emphasis Award, David seidel, Chris
Pelton, David Holdredge, Andy Flint, Jamie Bottoms;
and the Physical Fitness Award, Ron Dugan and Brad
Kozick.
The following Cubs receeved the Webelos Colors and
will now go into a Webelos Den: Ray Buckman, Ron
Hubbard, Chris Stevens, Christian Brown, Bill Camp,
Josiah Garlan, Jeff Hozempa, and Bobby Sarley. A
new Tiger pin was presented to Don Hosey, Joseph
Noon and Arron Gingo who will now become Cubs.
Leaders also received service pins: Mrs. Jackie
Downend, one year; Mrs. Melinda Seidel, 2 years,
Mrs. Sharon Holdredge, 2 years, Mr. Ron Loeffler, 3
years, Mrs. Judy Loeffler, 3 years and Mrs. Nancy
McDonald, 20 years. ;
The following officers and committee members were
named: Cub Master, Mr. Noon, Unit Commissioner,
Mrs. Nancy McDonald, Treasurer, Mrs. Sharon Hold-
redge, Secretary, Mrs. Brenda Hubbard, Award Chair-
person, Mrs. Nell Dugan, Protestant Award, Mrs.
Judy Loeffler and Publicity, Mrs. Sharon Hartshorne.
Mrs. Dugan and Mrs. Holdredge will co-chair the
Scout trip.
The Den leaders for Pack 281 are: Den 1, Mrs.
Jackie Downend and Mrs. Karen Miller; Den 2, Mrs.
Gail Bottoms and Mrs. Marilyn Wiedlick; Den 4, Mrs.
Mary Kozick and Weebelos, Mr. Ron Loeffler.
The pack will meet the third Friday of each month
at 7:30 at the Dallas Methodist Church. The next
Linda P. Stallone was promoted to
senior manager of communications
for Commonwealth Telephone
Enterprises, Inc.
In her new position, Stallone is
responsible for all internal and
external communications for the
corporation, including the direction
of investor relations, media rela-
tions, internal publications and com-
munity affairs. The annual report,
quarterly reports and financial and
operating news press releases are
some of the publications issued by
the company.
William J. Umphred, senior vice
president of adminsitration and
external affairs, said that Stallone’s
promotion represents the continuing
effort to expand Commonwealth’s
internal and external communcia-
tions programs.
Stallone, who has been with Com-
monwealth since 1981, most recently
served the company as general
sales manager for the Telephone
Group. Previous positions held were
residence sales manager and resi-
dential products and services man-
ager. Prior to joining Common-
wealth, Stallone lived in San Diego,
California, where she held positions
in development and English instruc-
tion at a private preparatory school
and in marketing and public rela-
tions at Sawyer Business College.

N.C. Mrs. Muriel Sharp of Doncas-
ter, England is the child's paternal
great-grandmother.

Miss Judge is a graduate of Col-
lege Misericordia with a B.S. in
Elementary and Early Childhood
Education. She is employed at the
Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA as Pre-
School and Aquatic Director.
Mr. Devine is a graduate of Penn
State Wilkes-Barre Campus with an
Associate degree in Electrical Engi-
neering and is employed by Com-
monwealth Telephone Co.
