Main Street and Route 309 in Dallas,
Dallas Township police reported.
Injured was Dorothy Oster of 193
Lewis Ave., Trucksville, following a
rear-end collision with Harleth
Davis of 256 Huntsville Rd., Dallas.
According to the police report,
Oster was traveling south on Route
309 waiting to make a left hand turn
onto Main street when her vehicle
was hit from behind.
Oster said she was signaled to ‘“‘go
ahead” and make the left-hand turn
by a motorist also waiting to make
a turn onto Main Street, traveling
north on 309.
Davis told Dallas Township police
she did not see the Oster vehicle
until it was too late.
No other injuries were reported
by Dallas Township patrolman
Clark Van Orden. The Dallas town-
ship ambulance responded to the
accident.
Kingston Township police
reported that a side door and
window of the Westmoreland Ele-
mentary School, were vandalized
last Thursday night.
Police have no clues. Kingston
Township police Chief Paul Sabol
said the damage was approximately
$100.
A vehicle operated by Leanne
Marie Fino of 532 Beverly Avenue,
Kingston Township slammed into
the rear of Cherly Lee Harris’
vehicle of Box 117, Harveys Lake,
Saturday afternoon while traveling
south on Pioneer Avenue, Kingston
Township police report.
No injuries were reported in the
accident which occured when Fino
was traveling south on Pioneer
Avenue and was preparing to turn
onto Route 309.
Fino reported she did not see the
Harris vehicle and ran into the rear
end of Harris’ car.

CLAUDE JOHNSON
Claude H. Johnson, 74, of 27
Valley View Park, Dallas, died Aug.
19 in Nesbitt Memorial Hospital,
Kingston, following a prolonged ill-
ness.
Surviving are his wife, the former
Mildred Holcomb; son, Harry,
Courtdale; daughters, Mrs. Jean
Long, Trucksville; Mrs. Shirley
Swan, Mount Zion; Mrs. Ruth Case,
Cicero, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; 10
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
August 22 from the Richard H.
Disque Funeral Home, Dallas, with
the Rev. Donald Miller of the Cen-
tral United Methodist Church,
Center, officiating. Interment,
Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Carver-
ton.

Mrs. Adele M. McAvoy, 64, of 86
Church St., Dallas, died Aug. 20 in
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Surviving are her husband,
Charles M.; sons, Charles Jr., Shav-
ertown; Michael, Jacksonville,
Fla.; Joseph, James, Shaverton;
daughter, Mrs. Anna Twardowski,
North Carolina; Mrs. Adele Gum-
bravich, Dallas; Mrs. Angela
Wasson, San Jose, Calif,; Miss Val-
erie McAvoy, Dallas; 12 grandchil-
dren.
Funeral services were held
August 24 from the Richard H.
Disque Funeral Home, Dallas, with
a Mass of Christian Burial at Gate
of Heaven Church, Dallas.
KATHRYON THOMAS
Mrs. Kathryon B. Thomas, 67, of
Sutton Road, Shavertown, formerly
of Hanover Township and Laurel
Run, died Aug. 22 in Hospice St.
John, Wilkes-Barre, where she had
been a guest for the past three
weeks.
Surviving are her daugtiter, Mrs.
Malcolm M. Burnside, Shavertown,
with whom she resided; grandchil-
dren, Malcolm M. Burnside IfI and
Kathryon H. Burnside, both of Shav-
ertown. She was preceded in death
by her husband, Day H. Thomas;
brothers, Luther Balliet and Carl T,.
Balliet. \

Barre, with the Rev. David A.
Feyrer, associate rector of St. Ste-
phen’s Church, Wilkes-Barre, offici-

Mount Olivet Road, Wyoming, will
offer environmental education serv-
ices to school classes, scout groups
and other organized groups of chil-
dren or adults, beginning the week
of Sept. 1.
Park Naturalist Jeff Smith is now
accepting group reservations for
trails. The educational walks, which
run from 1 to 1% hours in length
