J a le INFORMATION Patricia Klein Rosenthal, Dallas, has been appointed as teacher of Health and Physical Education at Wyoming Seminary Lower School, Forty Fort, according to Carmen M. Marnell, Dean of the Lower School. She will also serve in various coach- ing capacities. Mrs. Rosenthal received her B.S. Degree in Health and Physical Edu- cation from Ithaca College and com- pleted graduate courses at the Uni- versity of Maryland. Since 1980 Mrs. Rosenthal has been a substitute teacher at the Lower School. As an active participant in athlet- ics, Mrs. Rosenthal was a P.ILA.A. field hockey official and tennis coach at College Misericordia. She was also a tennis instructor at the Kingston Racquet Club and tuaght gymnastics to the Lower School Kindergarten students. Mrs. Rosenthal is the immediate past president of the Junior League of Wilkes-Barre and has served as chairman of the Aemrican Cancer Society’s ‘Daffodil Days”. She has participated on various committees with the Hadassah and received an Outstanding Young Woman of America Award in 1983. Mrs. Rosenthal, who is a 1964 graduate of Wyoming Seminary Col- lege Preparatory School, was presi- dent of the Wyoming Seminary Alumni Association (1980-82), and former member of the Lower School Parents’ Council and past chairman of the Lower School Rummage Sale. PATRICIA ROSENTHAL Orientation set Luzerne County Community Col- lege’s freshman class will be offi- cially welcomed to the college and given an overview of campus activi- ties at its annual orientation session scheduled for Monday, August 26, beginning at 9:30 a.m., in the col- lege gym on the main campus in Nanticoke. WEORMATION College Misericordia is gearing up for a new academic year with a two-day orientation for both new incoming students and their par- ents. Orientation will be held on Satur- day, August 24, and Sunday, August 25. Times for orientation programs vary throughout the day. Classes will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, August 26. New students and their parents will take part in tours of the campus and a welcome address in Walsh Auditorium by Dr. Joseph Fink, president, college administrators and several student leaders. They will also meet together in an aca- demic program session with faculty from the student’s chosen academic discipline. During Saturday evening, all stu- dents and their parents will meet in the cafeteria with Dr. Joseph Rogan, director of the Developmen- tal Education Program. Topics of discussion will include the Fresh- man Testing Project, Academic Workshop Project and the Alterna- tive Learners Project. Evening lei- sure activities will cinsist of various sports activities. Combined parent- student programming will conclude with a Folk Mass on Sunday morn- ing. On Sunday, students will meet informally insmall groups with an orientation student leader in order to ask questions they may have. They will also meet with their academic advisors and register for calsses. Both resident and commuter stu- dents will have the opportunity to meet separately in order to discuss any sepcial concerns. Sunday’s ori- entation will end with an outdoor band concert and picnic. A special program specifically for parents has also been designed for orientation. On Saturday, a work- shop entitled ‘Parents’ Concern” will be conducted by Sister Martha Hanlon, REM, dean cf students and- David Payne, dean of admissions. In addition, representatives from the financial aid and billing offices will address financial related topics. In order to provide parents the chance to socialize with faculty and administrators, a parent’s reception will be held on Saturday evening in McHale Hall Lounge and patio area.
