A finalist in the Miss Pennsyl-
vania 1984 pageant, Lea was a
three-time winner in swimsuit com-
petition, winner in local pageants; a
volunteer entertainer for USO
troops, PAL, and numerous hospi-
tals and service organizations. Her
father at one time owned a roller
skating rink wher Lea first became
interested in competition.
Melba Boudreaux, owner of
Melba’s Fashion Nook, invites all
residents of the area to attend the
reception at her shop in Trucksville
where they will have an opportunity
to meet Miss Pennsylvania, spend
some time talking with her and, if
desired, take some photographs.
While at Melba’s Fashion Nook,
Miss Pennsylvania 1985 will be
assisted by Melba and her staff in
selecting her wardrobe for her
year’s reign as well as for the Miss"
America competition in Atlantic
City, Sept. 7 through Sept. 15.

gone, the grass is mowed and once
again the once popular corner of
Harveys Lake formally operated
and known as Old Sandy Bottom
Beach is in the process of being
preserved as a place of recreational
enjoyment.
“The dream is becoming a real-
ity”’ announced Darrell VanOrmer,
president of the harveys Lake
Beach Club as the members move
to preserve and enhance this peace-
ful and relaxing recreational facil-
ity.
This past weekend the beach
looked fresh and inviting as it was
being enjoyed by those members
who had worked to prepare it for
reopening. “We have taken the first
big step in our goal”, said Van
ormer as he talked of the Clubs
plans for the future. The prime goal
is to keep this property for the
purpose it was intended - recreation
for those in the community and
throughout Northeastern pennsyl-
vania who wish to contribute by
becoming members.
The first step was to gather a
committment to this project was
sincere and dedicated. With this
accomplished, the group has elected
officers and its Board of Directors
and is in the process of incorporat-
ing.
Available memberships will be
solicited as a result of an “Open
~ House” scheduled for Sunday,
August 18, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at
the Club grounds and open to
anyone interested in becoming a

George G. Gale Sr., 66, of Ridge
Ave., Harveys Lake, died August 9
at home.
