    Mr. and Mrs. John J. Carey of
Chase Manor, Shavertown,
announce the engagement and
approaching marriage of their
daughter Janine Carol to Mr. Arda-
lan Ossareh, son of Dr. and Mrs.
Abdoul Hossein Ossareh of Shiraz,
Iran.
Miss Carey, a Magna Cum Laude
graduate of Marywood College, is
pursuing a Masters Degree in Jour-
nalism at the University if Mary-
land. She directs Communications
and Public Relations for the Color
Marketing Group, a Washington,
D.C.-based trade association.
Mr. Ossareh is a graduate of The
Capital Institute of Technology,
Kensington, Maryland. He is pursu-
ing a Masters Degree in Electronics
and Computer Engineering at
George Mason University. He is
employed by Spectrum Digital Cor-
poration in Herndon, Va. as a
Junior Electronic Engineer.
The wedding will be solemnized
December 27, 1985, in St. Therese’s
Church, Shavertown.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Kormis
Sr., Shavertown, announce the
engagement of their daughter,
Brenda, to Douglas Gallup, son of
Mr. and Mr. Floyd Gallup, Dallas.
Miss Kormis is a graduate of
Lake-Lehman High School and is
employed by M.W. Wood Food Serv-
ice, College Misericordia.,
Mr. Gallup is semployed by
Custom Management Corporation,
College Misericordia, Dallas.
Two community awards will be
presented at the 90th Annual Meet-
ing of the Family Service Associa-
tion of Wyoming Valley. The lunch-
eon meeting, open to the public, will
} be held at. noon, Sept. 5, at the
~ Sheraton/Crossgates, Wilkes-Barre.
The Hon. Chester B. Muroski,
Judge of the Orphans Court of
Luzerne County, and Ian Richard-
Executive Vice-President of
Offset Paperback Mfrs., Inc., in
Dallas, will be honored by Family
Service for their roles in improving
family life in our communities.
Anne Vernon, Executive Director
of Family Service, said Judge
Muroski will receive the Community
Distinguished Service Award for his
outstanding work with children of
divorce. The occasion of the 90th
Anniversary, proclaimed the ‘Year
of the Family’’, was chosen to honor
Judge Muroski for his work with
Family Service and Orphans Court
in helping divorced parents resolve

disputes over child custody and
visitation.
Family Service will present the
Corporate Distinguished Service
Award to Ian Richardson for his
pioneering efforts with the
Employee Assistance Programs
(EAP), which helps get troubled
employees into early treatment.
Offset Paperback was the first local
company to institute a total EAP
program planned for small and
medium-size businesses. Mrs.
Vernon stated that because of this,
working closely with Mr. Richard-
son and the Offset Paperback Per-
sonnel Department, Family Service
was able to design programs now
used by Family Service agencies

Ian Richardson was born and
educated in Winnepeg, Manitoba,
Canada, but he says he is a trans-
planted Canadian, now 99 percent
American. He graduated from
United College in Winnepeg as a
Registered Industrial Cost Account-
ant. Mr. Richardson has been asso-
ciated with Offset Paperback Mfrs.,
Inc., since 1972, when it was
founded, and is its Executive Vice-
President. Offset Paperback is the
third largest paper manufacturer in
the world.
Among the community organiza-
tions Mr. Richardson serves are the
Wilkes-Barre Rotary, United Way,
American Cancer Society, Graphic

Darci Ann Davis, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. John Davis, of Shaver-
town, was recently awarded the title
and banner for “Miss Hospitality’
during the Miss T.E.E.N. Pageant
held at the Penn Harris Hotel in
Campus Hill. :
This honor entitlted Darci to serve
as the official hostess for the 1985
Miss T.E.E.N. Pageant.
The 16-year-old Miss Davis also
placed third in personal interviews
where 58 girls were judged on
appearance and poise, ability to
communicate, - personality and
grammar.
