OF THE ROSICRUCIAN ORDER,
AMORC will be celebrating its first
anniversary on Thursday, Aug. 1.
Because of the special nature of this
event, and the memorial service for
Dr. H.S. Lewis, first Imperator for
the Rosicrucian Order for this
cycle, all active members of the
Order are urged to attend. The
Convocation will begin at 7:30 in the
Crest Room of Gus Genetti’s Best
Western Moto Inn in Wilkes-Barre.

credentials. The Rosicrucian Order
is a non-sectarian, non-profit, cul-
tural and educational organization.

DISABLED AMERICAN VETER-
ANS CHAPTER 9 will conduct a
meeting on Monday, August 5, at
7:30 p.m. at the Parsons VEW, Scott
Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Commander Murray Brown will
preside. Items on the agenda
include membership, hospital
reports, hospital activities.

THE HARVEYS LAKE LITTLE
LEAGUE ORGANIZATION has
changed its meeting date to Satur-
day, August 10, at 10 a.m. at the
Robert Wintersteen Recreation
Building.

THE WYOMING VALLEY CHAP-
TER of The American Red Cross
Youth Council will be sponsoring a
blood drive on Aug. 7, at the Wyo-
ming Valley Mall in Pomeroy’s
second floor community room. The-
goal is 120 donors, all students and
the public is invited to donate.
From 1 to 3 p.m. a live band will
perform and Rock 107 will broad-
cast live from the mall. Refresh-
ments will also be served.

Clinics
AN ARTHRITIS CLINIC at Nes-
bitt Memorial Hospital will be held
on Wednesday, July 31 from 11 a.m.
to 2 p.m. in the hospital’s Medical
Arts Building, 534 Wyoming Avenue,
Kingston. Dr. John Carey, rheuma-
tologist, conducts the clinic.
Patients are referred by their
personal physician to the program.
Dr. Carey examines each patient,
evaluates their condition and
designs an individual treatment
plan. Results are then forwarded to
their physician.
Patients must make an appoint-
ment with the Arthritis Clinic by
calling Nesbitt’s Outpatient Regis-
tration office at 288-1411, extension
4130, Monday through Friday, from
1to4 p.m.

Wilkes-Barre General Hospital's
Cardiac Support Group will hold its
monthly meeting on Wednesday,
Aug. 7 in the hospital’s board room
on the main floor.
Dr. Richard P. Abramowitz, a
staff cardiologist, will discuss diag-
nostic testing and treatment of
heart disease.

Show planned
The Riding Ho 4-H Club of Luzerne County will be
conducting its annual open horse show on August 4, at the
Lehman Horse Show Grounds, Route 118, Lehman. The
show will begin at 8 a.m. and will feature English, Western
and Gymkhana events. There will be Pee Wee, Youth,
Junior and Senior Divisions. Refreshments will be available

event is expected to attract nearly
1,000 ‘‘eddie B’’ fans to the local
park. Last year’s event attracted

away as Binghamton, New York,
Dover, New Jersey and Stamford,
Connecticut.

Back Mountain students who com-
pleted grades kindergarten through
sixth this past June are invited to
enter the fourth annual Summer’s
End Art Contest, to be held at Sue
Hand’s Imagery, 35 Main Street,
Dallas, from September 3-6. The
contest is also open to any student
who studies art lessons with any
teacher residing in the Back Moun-
tain Area (Dallas, Lehman, Tunk-
hannock, or Northwest School Dis-
tricts) regardless of the student’s
residence. The Summer’s End con-
test is the ‘‘sister’”” contest of the
Suzanne Rossetti Memorial Art Con-
test held each year in April for the
area’s secondary school students.
All entries must be matted or
framed. Entries must be identified
on theback with the students name,
Grade level completed in June,
phone number, and category. The
maximum number of entries per
child is five. No entry may have
been previously entered in the
Summer’s End Contest or be in
excess of 36 inches in either direc-
tion. Entries must be delivered to
Sue Hand’s Imagery by 5 p.m. on
Friday, Aug. 30.
