POLICE BLOTTER KINGSTON TOWNSHIP Two Pittson residents were injured Saturday afternoon when the driver of the automobile in which they were traveling, failed to negotiate a turn and smashed into a tree at Francis Slocum State park, Kingston Township police report. Injured were Kenneth and Sheila Hoover of 124 Panama Street, Pitts- ton. Kenneth Hoover sustained a bloody nose while Sheila Hoover complained of pain and contusion injuries about the head. According to the Kingston Town- ship police report, the driver (Ken- neth Hoover) was traveling along the Big Pines Picnic Area roadway in Francis Slocum Park, when he came to a sudden curve in the roadway. Hoover stated that he slammed on the breaks to avoid swerving off the road but continued to skid off the roadway and into a tree. Both Hoovers refused medical attention at the scene, reported Kingston Township patrolman Mike Moravec. -0- JA 13-year-old Shavertown youth escaped serious injury last Thurs- day morning following an accident involving the Kingston Township police cruiser and the youth’s bicy- cle. Injured was Russell Hudak of 52 East Center Street, Shavertown. Hudak sustained cuts and bruises _and was taken to Nesbitt Memorial Hospital by Kingston Township Ambulance. Police reports indicate that Hudak was riding his bike along Stang street and was about to turn left onto N. Lehigh street when the police cruiser, operated by patrol- man Walter Davis, skidded into Hudak. According to eye-witness, Leo Edwards of 55 Shagback Drive, Shavertown, Hudak was ‘‘really moving down the hill (Stang street) and turned into the police car.” ‘Officer Davis said, ‘As 1 approached the intersection there he was, sliding into me. I hit the brakes and swerved left, but there he (Hudak) was.” Dallas Township patrolman Clark Van Orden investigated. Lake-Lehman sets bus driver school The Lake-Lehman School District will sponsor a bus drivers training school at the Lehman-Jackson Ele- mentary School during the week of July 15 through July 20. The school will enable the participants to sat- isfy the requirements in obtaining a Class 4 drivers license, as well as bus drivers who are seeking to have their license renewed. The course for new bus drivers will consist of 14 hours of classroom theory and six hours of behind-the- wheel driving. The course for driv- ers wishing to renew their bus drivers license will consist of 10 hours of instruction. Ryan was scheduled for a July 12 hearing before Gregory, but failed fo secure council. Gregory contin- ued the hearing until Ryan could secure a public defender. According to the complaint filed, Ryan was being transported to Nes- bitt Memorial Hospital by Kunkle Ambulance Association along with Leo White (motorcyclist involved in the July 4 accident near Alderson section of Harveys Lake) when White reportedly passed to Ryan, a syringe, money and a bag. Kunkle ambulance attendant Julie Roan noticed the handling of the materials and radioed the transfer to Dallas Township police. Roan also stated that Ryan tried to pass a bag containing a brown substance to her (Roan). Township police to meet them at Coscia’s Restaurant on Route 309. Upon arrival at Coscia’s, the com- plaint says, Ryan jumped out of the ambulance and ran inside Coscia’s. Dallas Township patrolman Wayman Miers followed her into the restaurantkwhere Ryan threw the syringe and bag at him. Miers also found an additional bag and $512 on Ryan’s person, which Ryan claims White gave to her. -0- Robert Brennan of 947 Schuyler Avenue, Kingston will face charges of Driving While Under the Influ- ence of Alcohol (DUI) July 24 at District Magistrate Earl Gregory's - office, The Dallas Post learned Monday. The reported DUI incident allegedly occurred on June 30 along route 309, Kingston Township. Kingston Township patrolman Joseph Bren reported in his com- plaint that Brennan was traveling north on route 309 near Duke Issacs when he noticed Brennan’s vehicle swerving. Bren stopped Brennan near St. Paul’s Church on Route 309 where Brennan reportedly ‘staggered’ out of his vehicle toward the police cruiser. The complaint states that after examining Brennan’s drivers license and registration he (Bren- nan) and his passenger became loud and abusive. Both passengers were taken into custody where Brennan was given the breathalyzer test by Kingston Township patrolman Gary Biesel.
