Yin GERTRUDE T. DRAGON Certificates awarded Gertrude T. Dragon, techno-thera- pist and Lorrie M. Duris, dental assistant, at the Monroe-Noxen Health Center, Route 29, Noxen have been awarded professional certifications by the Dental Assist- ing National Board, Inc. They have achieved status as Certified Dental Assistants by pass- ing a rigorous written examination. Since the Certified Dental Assistant program was established in 1948, approximately 100,000 dental assist- ants have been certified. The Dental Assisting National Board designs and administers the test which gauges the working knowledge of candidates. In addition to passing the test, Ms. Dragon and Ms. Duris had to meet certain eligibility require- ments of education and experience. The Board bases certification not only on general chairside compet- ence but, also, on mastery of man- agement skills and on the tech- niques of surgical assisting. The two Monroe-Noxen staff members have demonstrated com- mand of a number of subjects such as hygiene, sanitation, radiation health and safety, and laboratory procedures. Certification also indi- cates their attainment of a variety of techniques to assist the office's dentists in providing patient care. Ms. Dragon attended Lake Noxen School and LaSalle Institute. Peslak has been appointed manager of market devel- opment for Commonwealth Tele- phone Enterprises, Inc. Donald P. Roskos, vice president of market- ing, announced the appointment stating Peslak’s responsibilities will include analyzxing new marketing opportunities and business ventures and continuing support to existing operations. Peslak, a graduate of the Univer- sity of Scranton with an MBA in finance, previously worked for Com- monwealth Telephone Company as *5.00 Pick Up Tuesday administrative staff manager for the Operations Department. Prior to joining Commonwealth in 1983, Peslak was employed as a corpo- rate planner for Gentex Corporation in Carbondale.
