Luncheon set
This year's Back Mountain United Methodist Women's Spring Luncheon will again be held at the
Irem Temple Country Club, Wednesday, June 12 at 12 noon. The program will be a nostalgic
presentation of Edith Bregnard’s humorous quips in verse. Reservations are to be made no later
than June 8 with the key person in the local churches. Those participating with the planning and

Planning roast
“Rediscover our region’s greatest natural wonder”
is the theme of the Harveys Lake Homecoming
Festival which will be held on June 15-16.
A steering committee comprised of borough organi-
zations and other interested persons sponsor the
festival with a shot of activities from fishing tourna-
ments, arts and craft show, to a festival dance
complete with fireworks.
The Harveys Lake Protective Association has partic-
ipated in the festival. The association’s main objective
is to hold a non-profit event designed to promote
fellowship, civic pride and bring the residents and
friends of the community together by sponsoring an
ox-roast. The ox-roast has been a huge success with
everyone enjoying the excellence of choice beef
roasted to perfection over an open fire. oh
Michael Shisko, ox-roast chairman, invites everyone
to the event which will be at Hanson’s Picnic Grounds
on Saturday, June 15. Serving of a complete beef
dinner will be from noon to 5 p..m. with takeouts
available. ET
Tickets should be purchased in advance. They are
available at the following lake businesses: Drury’s
Restaurant; Taft’s Market and Javers Store. HbA
Steve Galanda, chairman of Holy
Trinity Parish’s Annual Father and
Family Breakfast announced that
this year’s speaker will be George
Curry, head football coach at Ber-
wick High. Coach Curry is a native
of Larksville where he starred in
football making All Scholastic and
starred for Temple University.
While at Berwick High after a
successful season at Lake-Lehman
High School, Curry has become one
of the most successful football
coaches around, not only in the
state, but in the country as he was
recently voted by U.S.A. Today as
one of the outstanding coaches in
the “country. His 1983 team was
voted No. 1 in the Country.

ambition. It is to see that his
graduates find a place in life such
as college, and work or trade. This
past season, he got over $500,000
worth of scholarships for his young-
sters.
Chairman Galanda said that the
breakfast will begin right after the 9
a.m. Mass. John Husovsky is presi-
dent of the Holy Name Society. Rev.
John Marinko is president and mod-
erator and Rev. Michael Litcheck is
assistant pastor.
All parishioners are invited to
attend. Reservations can be made
by contacting Mr. Galanda, Presi-
dent Husovsky or any of the mem-
Show slated
“The Year of the Family"
will be the theme of the Art
Show on June 24-28 spon-
sored by Family Service
Association of Wyoming
Valley in honor of its 90th
anniversary. The mixed
media show will be at United
Penn Bank, Market Street,
Wilkes-Barre, and will be
open during banking hours.
Most of the art work will
relate to the family theme,
although that is not a
requirement for acceptance.
