Special to The Dallas Post
A new phenomenon is sweeping across part of
Northeastern Pennsylvania as' a new resource
for improving the region’s quality of life. This
trend is the growing role of a ‘women’s network
designed to share experiences in order to
improve the role of women in the region or
portions thereof, and to increase their participa-
tion in leadership positions and help improve the
region’s quality of life.
Among the more recent local efforts is the
planning for a major woman’s conference to be
held at the Wilkes-Barre Penn State University
Campus on Saturday, June 1, 1985. Many organi-
zations in Luzerne County, as well as elsewhere
have agreed to co-sponsor this meeting, includ-
ing the Economic Development Council of North-
eastern Pennsylvania. The goals of the confer-
ence are to accomplish the following:
To inform; to bring women together; to
Rita M. Brody of Sweet Valley,

Wilkes-Barre program which trains
community leaders.
